Halebid was the imperial capital of the great Hoysala Empire during the 12th and 13th century and is now home to the distinguished Hoyaleswara and Kedareshwara temples. It is also famous for its sculptures and panels designed in the prominent Hoysala style. During the 14th century, it was looted and plundered by Malik Kafur of the Delhi Sultanate twice.
