Freesat box aerial input wire is broken in main bedroom, but now held with peg! Sadly the main fire wasn't working, but electric fans & convectors provided.

    Nice view.
Unclean. Bedding had a bad smell - like body odour. There was a questionable substance on the pillow case. Lots of mildew everywhere.

    Disappointing
    Beautiful area, very disappointing lodge.
The property is in a brilliant spot right next to the river and has an extra private piece of land that the other lodges dont have so there is plenty of outside space. There were plenty of utensils, crockery and cleaning supplies provided. There is even a really good bbq that we loved using. A small selection of dvds were available which was a really nice touch, and the Wi-Fi was good and strong enough to stream movies. There is an abundance of wild life including rabbits, squirrels, pheasant and mink. So many different birds as well - the lodge has its own bird feeder that we filled up daily and saw some lovely birds. The hand soap and washing up liquid and dish cloths were a welcome touch. The fishing lake is well stocked and Duncan the fishing warden is really friendly. You do have to pay for day tickets at 9 at the local news agents Contis in Builth town (this information needs updating from the website)
The property needs a lot of work and love. There is mould throughout the lodge in every room. The curtains all had mould on them too. The windows were dirty. The couch is really worn and uncomfortable. The mattresses must be years old as they were more like hammocks with huge dips in them and the double had you continually rolling to the middle of the bed. None of us had a comfortable nights sleep the whole week. All the walls and woodwork were grotty and need repainting throughout. Whilst the shower was lovely and powerful the shower screen doors fall off in your hand and takes some fiddling to get them back on each time. The drains need some attention as the shower tray wouldnt drain away and would over flow if you didnt hurry up. Our electric all went out at one point and we checked the trip switches without success so we called the Warden. He had to flick a switch at his main gateway, He was very grumpy bordering on rude. Outside the decking is really tatty and the hand rail is all rotten and extremely wobbly making it very unsafe. The decking boards by the side door are very bouncy with not enough support underneath them. Please be careful! The laminate flooring in the lodge itself that was lifting in places, caused a bit of a trip hazard. Our son was looking forward to playing on the wii machine but the 2 controllers were broken in the basket which is a shame as the owners have obviously done their best to fully equip the lodge. The outside boxes that claim to contain games and play equipment were just full of empty food packets and a broken chair. Its a real shame that there were so many issues as it did disappoint us after looking forward to our holiday. Its is definitely not a luxury lodge park
