AP Eva Senses

We have stayed at AP Eva Senses a couple of times before and for good reason. We always receive a warm welcome from the staff. We were offered a free glass of wine to enjoy in the comfortable lobby. Our room was not huge, but it was well designed and had everything we needed, including a magnificent view of the harbour and the Old Town. There was a balcony with 2 chairs, plus a relaxing chair in the bedroom. The bathroom had a good walk-in shower. Restaurants are plentiful in the area. There is free parking outside the hotel. The breakfasts are excellent, with many choices which were replenished frequently. There was even a live pianist. The breakfast room is on the top floor and has outstanding views. We will be returning to this hotel on our next visit to Faro!

I planned a two night stay at this hotel to celebrate new years eve and my recent engagement with my partner. The hotel was holding a new years eve gala which was not a problem for us personally. We didn't want to attend the gala and were happy to go out into Faro iteslf. Faro had a huge outdoor stage across from the hotel with lots of bars and restaurants which was more of our thing. As my partner was getting ready to go out on new years Eve, I went to the bar to get us both a drink to bring back to the room and was told I couldn't buy a drink as I wasn't part of the gala. The lady at the bar downstairs told me to try the upstairs bar so off I went. I got to the bar and again I was told I couldn't buy a drink! I paid over 250 euros to stay in your hotel and wasn't even allowed to use the services or spend money. In all my years of staying in hotels I've never been refused to spend money in a hotel I've paid for. I went to the reception and the person working there said "it's orders of the manager". I said I would just order room service then and was told I can't do that as the hotel were not providing room service on new years eve! This put a real dampener on our stay as we were made to feel like 'lower class' as we were not attending the gala. We noticed on your website it said that if you were to purchase 2 nights at your hotel, the gala would be included. So therefore we paid the same amount as those who attended the gala and yet we couldn't even by a drink let alone have a drink that was supposed to be included! So be warned if you visit on new years eve or when they have an event, as you will be restricted in what facilities you can use even though you've paid to stay there. You will be treated like some kind of second class citizen at the expense of people they deem to be more important than you!

Everyday we would hang the please clean my room sign and would come back to it be turned to don't disturb. The room was obviously not cleaned. This was frustrating after long days on the beaches and walking a lot. The night staff was unbelievably unhelpful. They would blame us saying we put the wrong sign. I even took pictures of what sign I put up to prove that I indeed did ask for the room to be cleaned on the next day. This happened to us every day of our stay. The staff also left me hanging on the call with no response when I complained that this happened two days in a row. I waited and got no response. It was completely worthless to pay more than 100 Euros a day for this service. The layout of the room was also weird that one could knock the tv down if they stumbled across the room. The hot water came after 20 mins of letting the tap run. This is a waste and non sustainable.
