We were booked for the night in room 128. The noise was horrendous. When we first walked in we thought the window had been left open and that was why. But it hadnt been. We went out for a while and came back mid evening hoping that once the traffic and trams stopped running it would get better. But this is no exaggeration but when a tram went past it sounded like a plane taking off. We had ear plugs but nothing was going to block that sound out, it honestly was horrendous. Hubby checked the window again but it was definitely closed so he thinks maybe the seals had gone or there was a gap that he couldnt see. So he went to reception to ask for a room change but the lady said they were fulll but we could be changed the following day. We were only booked for one night! About half an hour later there was a knock on the door and it was the receptionist to say theyd had a no show so we could move. I honestly think had we stayed in the first room wed have had to leave and book in elsewhere. How anyone can stay in that room is beyond me. I actually recorded it for hubby to show the receptionist when a tram went past, but he was on his way back by the time he received it. Weve never asked to move rooms at any hotel so we werent just being OTT. It truly was awful! The second room was so peaceful it was unbelievable. Though our only other gripe was only one really soft pillow and no chance to have a couple more in either room. Its a shame as we were impressed with the hotel on every other part but no way should anyone be put in that room!
