We have just returned from a 4 night break to Catalonia del Mar Hotel, we previously stayed here prior to covid. We booked the same type of room, a superior room with sea view for our stay, as we were very happy with the accommodation on our previous visit. The room we were given on the 4th floor didnt come anywhere near being a superior room! It was shabby with tiny holes in the curtain and no voile curtain. It was a much smaller room. Should have had a small table with two chairs down one end, it had one chair and certainly not enough room for anything else. The balcony window had a large pillar jutting into the room taking away window/light and restricting access by the bed. No bath or bidet just a very small shower room. I went down and spoke to two members of reception staff. I explained that I had stayed previously and the room we have been allocated this time was definitely not a superior room and listed all the areas that didnt meet the description. I was somewhat surprised at their response as instead trying to resolve the problem they said they were fully booked, the room we were allocated was the second best in the hotel!! and said the room was not smaller, apparently part of the problem was we wanted twin beds, I said we should have been informed if twin beds were going to be a problem considering this was booked last year! Finally I was given a key for a 2nd floor superior room which according to the staff was a double. I checked out the room it was exactly what I booked and should have been allocated at the start, and it was made up as a twin! (Pic 3) I returned to reception to find the previous 2 members of staff had been joined by an additional 2 members which felt quite intimidating , as they still quite strongly insisted the 4th floor room was a superior room 2nd best in the hotel!
We stayed B & B on this occasion, as previous visit the meals were ok but very much the same every night. On this visit the breakfast was not good.
