About This Property

With a private beach and panoramic views over the Menai Straits, Château Rhianfa is set in a Grade II listed Victorian villa. A tennis court, We also have a wine cellar with wine tasting experiences. (Read More) Enjoy outdoor dining overlooking the Menai Straits and Snowdonia National Park, or wander through Château Rhianfa's picturesque gardens and 3 acres of grounds. Period features such as wooden floors, panelled walls and painted ceilings are still visible. The on-site restaurant, Le Dragon Rouge, serves Welsh and French cuisine. A lounge menu until 17:00 is also available. Free Wi-Fi and a luxury private bathroom are provided for each room, as well as tea/coffee making facilities. Suites, as well as apartments and cottages with kitchen facilities, are also available. The entrance to Snowdonia National Park is just 15 minutes’ drive away, with Bangor city centre and Beaumaris just 3 miles away.

Beautifully decorated lounges, friendly and pleasant staff and lovely location.

The bathroom door didnt close properly and opened automatically when the window was open which is not good when the toilet is right behind the bifold doors. I would suggest putting a second knob on the inside of the door so you can pull it closed, get a carpenter to make the door fit and add a simple hook and loop lock to prevent the door opening on its own when privacy is needed. Also having the same menu for multiple nights with only three choices for each course was disappointing (especially when limited to only liking one thing on each course) although the food was good. The hotel having to cancel our booking on the first night due to a gas leak also probably increased the disappointment on the food side of things. However, the call to let us know in advance was appreciated.

Birthday Get away

Everything about the place was amazing from walking into the building to the staff . The decor is fitting with the building and character - lots of unknown little areas to find . The rooms are perfect for relaxing in . We stayed in the Duchess suite such a beautiful room which was spacious and a huge comfortable bed . We had a view overlooking the menai strait and watched the sky change colour. The rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed . For an old building it was surprisingly warm - loved the open fire on entering the place. We had the afternoon tea in the drawing room with a perfect view of the Menai ! You can wander around the Chateau and be amazed at the way this beautiful building was designed.The staff were very friendly and made sure you were looked after . If you love old buildings this is a must to stay at. We will definitely be back !

The only thing I could comment on would be a more varied meal menu and the option of later eating in the bar and grill.
