I really enjoyed this hostal and found it to be a great value for the money.

The hostal was located in a really convenient location to the Gothic Quarter. Everything was easy to navigate and walk to and felt very safe. My room was very quiet and had everything I needed and I appreciated having a shower in the room.

There's a rusty exposed nail or screw that is sticking out of the ground beside the tub. I appreciate the convenience of the key system, but being able to grab anyone's room key when you come in made me feel a little uncomfortable. Nothing happened, but I worried about the risk of someone seeing which room I stayed in and being able to just take the key and get access to my room.

Good Price, Good Property

The property is great because it's in the center of everything and you can easily reach most of the attractions that Barcelona has to offer! Firstly, the public transport is very close to this place (and you'll fine the Barceloneta metro station nearby- 400 meters away, the Estacin de Francia - down the road + another station on the right side). Secondly, there are a few shops in the vicinity (so Aldi can be found around the corner - on the left side, while 2 non-stop grocery stores are located on the right side). It's important to know the fact that breakfast isn't given at the accommodation, but you can buy stuff from those places and you can store everything in your room or in the shared fridge (as you enter and you see the reception, yo go to the left side and you'll find the spot that has a coffee machine, a few vending machines, a fridge, etc). In order to see some important landmarks (like Parc de la Ciutadella, Arc de Triomf, Port Vell, Baslica Santa Maria del Mar, etc.) you can simply walk. But if you want to visit the Sagrada Familia, Parc Gell or Casa Batll, use the metro, the bus or the train. It's simple and efficient because the stations are nearby. The hostel has a 24/7 reception, cleaning service (changing the towels on a daily basis, getting the room cleaned, etc - and you don't have to pay extra because it's already included in the final price) and the area has a good security (passcode, CCTV on public areas, etc). Beds were not very comfortable and the quality wasn't great, but for the price... it's okay. The people working there and the other employees made us feel very welcome! They are really nice! Respect for that! All in all, Hostal Orleans is a good place!

Not for people with a sensitive back

The room was bigger and better than on the pictures! It was pretty quiet, to say you're in the city center. So, we were positively surprised! There is a shared fridge and microwave you can use, which is really cool. The balcony is great too. I like the neighborhood, there is everything you need and the park very close.

The beds and mattresses were horrible. We both had real backpain and difficulties to sleep. It's the only bad point for us, but it's also the most important at the end and what you're looking for in a hotel: the place to sleep.

Solid, central and super clean and landing pad for travellers happy to commute to attractions

This place is right across from the big train station, Estacin de Francia. It was nice to roll right in after taking the train in from the airport. The room was very small but clean, and we had our own bathroom and a tiny balcony. The rooms are cleaned everyday which was really nice. There is a shared living room with a fridge, vending machine, coffee machine and kettle. But if you want to have coffee you need to buy pods in the vending machine and theyre quite expensive. Theres no sink in the main area near the kettle, so you need to go to the bathroom a bit down the hall to fill it up. Also there are only paper cups (though the rooms have glass cups provided). The toilet in our room was also a bit fussy about flushing. Also it was definitely noisy at night since we were right on a huge street in front of the station. We did use the metro quite a bit as we didnt really want to explore that immediate area. On our way out we stopped by a neighbouring cafe called Lulu & Flynn - though a tad expensive it was a really good coffee and breakfast sandwich - definitely a good nearby option!

- en suite toilet were sluggish - kitchen not designed for DIY coffee - security seemed a little bit lax for those who are particular about that sort of thing, but it didn't bother us much, ( ie your labelled room key is stored at the front desk)
