Couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Plenty of choices for breakfast. Really enjoyed all the staff. Husband was skiing for the first time so was great having the instructors right out the door plus the fact you can rent all the equipment right on the property. Anja, as always mentioned, runs the place extremely well. Feels like you're part of the family. Thank You to all!

    Disappointing
    Wouldn't stay here again.
Not a lot, the beds were big and the rooms quite spacious, there was plenty of hot water. The highlight of breakfast was the facility to make boiled eggs and the croissants were quite good despite looking terrible. The yogurts were quite nice too. The lady who I think was one of the owners was very nice and hospitable.
The lady behind the bar was very rude and grumpy throughout the whole stay, there was another lady who was a bit more friendly but it still felt like they were doing us a favour. They have a smoking room but the doors are always open so the lower floors stink of cigarette smoke and this smell permeates the whole hotel. The showers are terrible, very small and the plastic shower curtains stick to you and the towels are very thin. There is plenty of hot water though. The plug sockets are falling out of the walls in the bedrooms and there are no pillow cases on the spare pillows, even after the rooms have been made daily. The bedroom doors do not shut easily so you basically have to slam them to close them. There are no kettles in the rooms. The towels are very thin. Breakfast was a joke. It consisted of some fruit (small selection, not good quality and not ripe), some bread/pastries but no toasting facilities, a small selection of cheese and cold meats and some cereals/cereal bars and yogurts. There were very small glasses for either water or orange or apple juice that was almost certainly from concentrate. Almost all mornings I had to find on of the ladies to ask for coffee, they were not readily available and they were often grumpy.

A lesser expensive option 10 min walk from the center
We stayed there for 2 nights and were in/out of Gstaad for an event. The hotel is 10 min walk from the center and 15 min from train station. The main receptionist was incredibly helpful and even drove me to the train station as the taxi never came and I had 10 min before departure. If you have very young kids who are learning to ski, the hotel is literally next to the "slope" so ideal for families and parking is free. The hotel has a large terrace in the sun which is nice.
The hotel is 50 years old and in my opinion needs a facelift. The first room I was in with a balcony, the door would not close properly and was a challenging. The receptionist was empathetic and offered me another room which was larger with no balcony. The rooms are simple and again could use some attention. For the price you pay (and I know Gstaad is expensive), I would expect a bit more like a kettle. For 2 nights it was fine.
