The breakfast was excellent, very generous continental spread with both hot & cold options. It was lovely, best breakfast we'd had during our time in Italy - we stayed in a few different places and the breakfast here was far by the best! The hotel is located next to a main road with good transport links to the port and other parts of the island, very handy if you want to go out exploring Ischia.
The rooms were a good size with good bathroom/shower facilities and air conditioning, wardrobes were ample too. Only thing I would say that would make the rooms better would have been a fridge for keeping water/refreshments in. Apart from that, the rooms were very good.
The thermal pools were lovely, very warm and good for swimming. The smaller pool was especially warm and had jets which were great for massaging your back and legs. The pool area in general was set in a pleasant courtyard with shaded areas too for those who wanted a break from the sun. They had very nice terraces as well which were ideal for sunbathing, with the added option of sunbathing by the pool with sunbeds and parasols that were free to use.
A lovely family-run establishment, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and would go out their way to accommodate you. On the day we were checking out, they very kindly let us use one of the rooms for showering/getting changed as our flight wasn't until later in the evening and we wanted to spend time sunbathing by the pool before setting off for Naples in the afternoon. They didn't charge us for this and they even gave us some free bottles of water which was very kind of them; I wasn't feeling well on the day we checked out and the staff were very attentive, one member of staff even gave me their jacket to help keep me warm as I had caught a chill after swimming in the sea the day before.
A very kind family who look after their guests, I would highly recommend Hotel Gemma and would definitely stay here again.
