Aggressive staff, filthy room

I booked a double bed and noted I wanted a clean room. Upon arrival in room 24, the double bed turned out to be two single twin beds, on wheels, rolled together but with separate mattresses. And the room was not clean at all: the carpet wasnt vacuumed, the closet was moldy, there were hairs and stains on the sheets, as well as on the mattress covers and even on the mattresses. Worst of all, underneath the mattress, I found the dried husk of a squished bug! As there were no cleaning staff on site and I didnt want to cause too much trouble, I requested a vacuum cleaner and a set of fresh sheets and Id clean the room myself. While waiting for the vacuum cleaner, the receptionist called and told me she had found another room for me. However, once at the reception, she was overruled by her colleague who told me very aggressively that she didnt want to show me any other room in the hotel because, quote, she didnt think any room would do, because clearly my standards were too high for a 4 star hotel and I should try the 5 star hotel Grand Mazarin around the corner. She was seething with anger, but clearly wrong: 1: implying that any 4 star hotel in Paris is full of hairs and bugs is a great insult to well-kept 4 star hotels all across Paris who have suffered tremendously under the bed bug panic of the last couple months. 2: considering the problem with bed bugs, why didnt she, as the responsible for hygiene at Bourg Tibourg, check the mattresses?? How can any guest have confidence in their cleaning standards? 3: Bourg Tibourg is owned by Groupe Costes, owner of several hotels in the Marais, while Grand Mazarin is owned by a rival hotel groupthe fact the staff is sending clients to the competition, rather than providing solutions, is a huge stain on the Costes name and incredibly shameful. Out of options, I had no other choice than to leave the hotel. I contacted the booking.

A great way to start our holiday in France

Love this little charming hotel. The staff was fantastic. Room was comfortable and clean. The housekeeping staff did an amazing job! We were upgraded to a suite which was a pleasant surprise!

The sound proofing was a little poor. We could hear noises from the people next and above us
