Iliovasilema Hotel & Suites

From the moment we booked our stay with Iliovasilema Hotel & Suites they were incredible. Any questions we had were answered, they assisted with our transfers and provided restaurant recommendations. They also helped us arrange a quad bike to travel the island for the day. Location for us was just perfect, there are a couple of shops at the top, the walk to the capital (Fira) is around 40mins but the main walkway has beautiful views the entire time. Imerovigli is quieter which after being in Fira most days was nice and relaxing to come back to. You can walk to Oia from where we stayed as well but we never did (around 2hr30 walk). Personally we preferred Fira to Oia so it made our location even more perfect as we went there most days. Id made Iliovasilema Hotel & Suites aware that it was our wedding anniversary whilst we were with them and was gob smacked that theyd arranged a stunning room upgrade for us to their swim out pool room! The room was beyond beautiful and the pool lovely and warm. With us travelling in October it was a lot cooler in the evenings and we spent every night relaxing in that pool. Breakfast is on your balcony whilst staying with Iliovasilema Hotel & Suites, purely because of the immense view you get no matter what room youre staying in. They offer a wide selection which you pick the night before and will even cater to your needs if there is something not on the menu to your liking. We used the hotels restaurant on our wedding anniversary as the balcony has stunning views for sunset. The food and drinks were lovely and all the staff at the hotel are just amazing. 100% would recommend Iliovasilema Hotel & Suites as the place to stay whilst in Santorini!

Location is good, room was spacious / generous, no issues with water or electricity or noise (inside the room). Easy to find location, relatively easy access (compared to other properties in the area). View of the sunset is very good - but *not* from the actual property room / jacuzzi / chairs.. the view is obstructed by other people / lounges etc so you need to go out and enjoy it from another location (several points accessible / easy to find along the way - 2-5-10-15mins away walking). Not a big issue for us.. just something to keep in mind. Most of the staff is very helpful and they do make up for the small annoying items (see below). When trying to find a solution or present a situation / find alternatives.. the discussions quickly take a defensive note unfortunately.

1. Privacy. The description of the room mentions a 'private jacuzzi' (some other rooms have a 'private pool'). Nothing private besides the fact that no one else comes to join.. but all traffic to almost all other rooms even other hotels - happens right in front of your door / jacuzzi, no matter the time / day. Maintenance also could be working on pipes / access for other rooms through the door right next to the jacuzzi. 2. Main door shutter / blinds. It looks like an afterthought.. as they took the cheapest solution and applied it to the door. OK - shouldn't be an issue.. if it would work. Unfortunately.. as many other guests before us found out and tried to fix it.. it doesn't work. When you open it - it doesn't open all the way and it blocks the door / cannot open the door. When it's closed / rolled down.. it makes a very, very, very annoying noise at the slightest movement of any air.. and this can be heard throughout the night / day - very clearly (bang-bang-baaang - being a room inside a cave/rock.. the echo is very clear). 3. Dehumidifier. There was a dehumidifier in the room that was not working - we called reception/maintenance and initially we were told that it is working correctly - like an A/C - starts/stops by itself. I explained that it's not the first time I see a dehumidifier and that I know how it works - especially since the humidity was ~70% in the room. We were then told that it's not part of the room standard equipment and it's no problem if it's not working - except it was making a constant noise (without working) and the humidity remained at ~70% during our stay. 4. Bathroom area. The floor choice of the person who designed this space was.. marble. Which is fantastic.. except in the bathroom / shower area.
