    Unique experience to stay in the heart of the Sasso and soak in the atmosphere of Matera.
    Wonderful hotel, built into an old church. We enjoyed our cosy room with view on the Sasso and staff was very helpful in teaching us how to move around the center.

    Location was just right, not too far from where our transfer dropped us off. Our rooms private balcony has a great view of the sassi.

    Authentic experience in the heart of Sassi
    A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Sassi. If you are looking for an authentic "grota" experience, this is it. The room had a very high ceiling and was very cosy. The staff was very helpful, the lobby is also very nice. In front of the hotel there is an amazing view of the old town. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

    An excellent cave experience!
    The staff were very welcoming, showed us how to use the spa facilities in the room and recommended places to visit and eat. One of the best rooms I have ever stayed in, definitely added to the Matera experience.

    Lovely Matera cave/hotel.
    We were excited to stay in a cave/hotel during our trip to Matera and l'Hotel di Pietra did not disappoint! We had a beautiful, large room with jacuzzi and sauna that was breathtaking. The staff was very helpful and the communal breakfast area in the main lobby area was very good as well! The hotel was a few minute walk from a main piazza and the center of town. From the entrance to the property we had a great view of the Duomo and the Sassi. Matera was magical and staying at Pietra complemented our Matera experience.
    Tip: Caves are humid places. Do not even try to hand-wash clothes and expect them to dry!

    A wonderful hotel
    what a wonderful small hotel! The staff was very helpful to show on a map what important things to see. This was great because we didn't want to do any tours. The breakfast was lovely. The room was huge.

    This hotel is absolutely amazing - classy, beautiful, lovely in every way. We felt pampered with excellent service and our room was unique, comfortable and wonderful. We loved the really wonderful breakfast (sweet and savory, so many choices, everything very tasty). We wished we could stay longer!
