Friendly staff but roof leaked at night time!

We have stayed in Lukimbi Lodge for the 3rd time. The location is excellent and the staff was very friendly. However, this time we did not have the same exceptional experience like the first 2 times.

You could see that some renovation work is needed. The rooms are a bit worn out (also the gym). We thought it was related with COVID but some employees explained us that the concession for the lodge in the Kruger Park might run out and therefore no big investments are done. The major disappointment was that in the last night the roof was leaking and rain was falling directly on our bed and our pillow at 3 am in the night. There was no compensation offered by the lodge which is remarkable since we paid more than 1000 USD per night for this room!

Exceptional

Our stay was simply excellent, offering a warm and homely ambiance with friendly and courteous staff

James and Penny, the skilled trackers, made sure we had the incredible opportunity to witness all of the Big 5 and even more fascinating wildlife. The bush walk they guided us through was not only informative but also filled with captivating insights. The level of service provided by Shelly, Emma, and Gloria were exceptional; they truly went above and beyond to ensure our time at the lodge was both enjoyable and safe. A highlight of our stay was the unforgettable Boma night, where we indulged in a delectable array of meats, including the renowned malva pudding. Without a doubt, we are already looking forward to our next visit.
