The entrance to the Haybarn is not private as listed on booking.com. You have to walk along the path to the owners front door, and then across their garden to gain access. The cabin was located within a few feet of another holiday cabin, close enough to overhear conversations. The Haybarn is fenced on three sides providing some privacy, however the garden to the rear is completely open to both cabins, allowing access to all guests. This left us uneasy with a potential lack of privacy when using the outside facilities.
We found the bed very uncomfortable. We were woken at 6am by the hot water turning on, causing a loud rattle/ vibration noise in the cylinder cupboard. This noise isn't normal, as was inferred later by Anna. The toilet was also noisy as what I assume is a macerator operates even when the toilet hasn't been used for awhile, it went off at 2am.
On our last night there was a party in a neighbouring property, very loud voices, music and fireworks. This was acknowledged by Anna on the night who told us Rob would try and identify where the noise was coming from. Whilst we appreciate that the party was out of their control. With no idea how long the noise would last and feeling tired from a lack of sleep the night before, we decided to end our stay early.
As we did not feel the pictures online were an accurate representation of the property/ surroundings we raised the issue with booking.com, with the intention of taking it no further. We were then contacted by Anna who was dismissive of our grievances, inferring that we were lying about the noise problems experienced both within the property and the party. We found it strange that Anna now deemed it necessary to inform us other guests could not hear the noise even though she acknowledged it on the night and she was further away. We were further insulted with the offer of a partial refund, which we did not request, on the basis we left a disingenuous wordless review of 9 or 10 for our stay.
