We had dinner at the hotel after a long day travelling and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The rooms were lovely. The hotel is in lovely surroundings and is a beautiful building. The beds are much bigger than they look in the pictures (massive!). It was a comfortable stay for our family.

Good
New year's day at McKay's!
The staff were brilliant, very welcoming and paid the dog lots of attention. Breakfast was superb and the bar and restaurant had a very nice atmosphere. Our room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable.
The room was very basic and the decor was quite dated. The bathroom was compact and the shower cubicle particularly small. The bathroom could have been cleaner but my biggest concern was that the shower wasn't secured to the wall correctly.

Very good
Worth the visit
Cooked part of breakfast was tasty.
Location of hotel.
Shower.
Service in evening.
Lack of options other than what was on menu. Lots of nuts etc no yoghurt to go with them. No croissants etc.
Too many dogs in eating area for dinner.

Pleasant
Enjoyable venue with nice bar area, atmosphere and great location but hotel and meal very average, for extortionate pric
Very friendly staff, great location. Bar and restaurant area are lovely, warm and inviting with great atmosphere. Dog friendly which is a great bonus. Provided travel cot. Good selection at breakfast and relaxed in terms of arrival, quick service too.
Room was not very practical for our stay - had a young baby with us, and as room was up two flights of stairs (we knew in advance there wasnt a lift) and along several corridors, it made taking the pram up and down difficult. Sink was tiny, not ideal for washing bottles etc. No table beside chairs to sit at night, extra bed in room we didnt need. Made reception aware, offered to change but no availability. No room service for duration of stay, so no new towels, mugs or replenished toilet paper etc. Booked dinner for one night, food average and very overpriced for what it was. Didnt book direct and were punished for it - didnt get discount off food advertised if youre a guest because of this, and paid ridiculous amount for a very basic room. Could have been time of year/circumstances but wasnt impressed. Stayed a few years ago and loved it but wont be back with family.
