Unpleasant experience where there is no sanctity to booking

Restaurant seems good

I booked a king room with Queen bed and was forced upon a room with twin bed. When asked, the proposal was to join the bed, which was not comfortable. The attitude of the staff was pathetic who simply said it is overbooked and cannot accommodate even though the booking was confirmed. What is the sanctity to booking then. They were arrogant than being apologetic.
