Upon arrival, we needed to pay in full upfront, which is something I have never needed to do at any hotel in any country I have stayed at. We were not prepared for that and did not have the money on us. They allowed us to pay what we had that night and the balance the following morning. After a long travel, this was not a great welcome. Two of the three nights we stayed there, we did not have hot water, as advertised, which was something we were really looking forward to after not having hot water for two weeks during trekking. The mornings were loud very early, and the evenings had many barking dogs when we were trying to sleep. It was not peaceful. The day before I needed to leave, I visited the office to see if they could help arrange a taxi for me to go to a bus stop, but the woman there did not understand and did not speak English. This is the first guesthouse I ever stayed in where they were unable to assist me with making travel arrangements as simple as ordering a taxi for an early morning pickup.
