Slim pickings on Pemba and I fear this is best without paying through the roof
The best thing about this hotel was the staff. They worked so hard to keep the place clean and are always super friendly and helpful. They get 5 stars
Ill start with the food because that was my main issue: utterly extortionate. I pay less for food in central London. I understand its located on a small island and taxes are high but $20 for an average (small) pizza is simply outrageous. We ate outside the hotel as often as possible. They also have a stupid rule where you cant bring in outside food/drink. The hotel itself is in need of maintenance. The toilet seat didnt stay up properly, the plug next to the bed didnt work and there was a leak in the shower. Shower gel is watered down significantly. Why? Its a bit out of the way but thats not a fault of the hotel

    Our Pemba Paradise stay
Staff were very nice and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. We stayed in the premium rooms. Property has recently gone through a renovation and is quite nice and a good value compared to the other two options in the area. They are really trying to create a nice experience for guests. They had scooters for rent to explore the area. Nice beach to walk during low tide. Its a nice option in an area that has limited options.
Food and drinks expensive as well as laundry service. No other options.

Amazing garden and swimming pool. Spacious rooms just renovated
Food extremely expensive, more than any 5 stars I've been in Tanzania. The beach is basically unusable due to local seaweed cultivation

Pemba Island is very nice and this resort could be a good arrengement .... but actually it's not! The rooms are very big, the matress very hard, on the terrace the paint was peeling. The cuisine was nothing special and too expensive for a 3 stars hotel. But worse of all was the local staff. One evening they had no white wine in the fridge but they had in the house. At happy hour for three days they said they had no lime and 50% of the drinks on the menu had lime as ingredient! What we heard more from the staff was: "Sorry, for now we don't have ....". One chance for the resort is the new french manager Julie. She really seemed to be the only one who has experience and the only one to care for the future of Pemba Paradise. Hope she can carry on her good will for the resort!

Nicely located at a splended beach. Two more resorts to the north within 20 minutes walking distance along the beach. Few local restaurants within 20 to 40 minutes walking distance, as well as local markets for basic supplements, such as water, fruits etc.
Unreliable electricity and water availability. Staff is always friendly and helpful, but insufficiently trained.

    Disappointing
    Disappointing experience.
The location was lovely and was right on the beach so you could swim at high tide. The swimming pool was a good size.
The service was very slow for food and drinks, both of which were very overpriced. The staff and management were surly and usually on their phones in preference to helping guests. There were power cuts pretty much every day we were there, some lasting for several hours, particularly when they were having to make repairs to the resort wiring. No power meant no water to the room (was on a pump system) so unable to use the toilet let alone the shower, and also no WiFi. There was no warning or apology for the inconvenience either before, during or after the power cuts. The resort was generally run down with areas looking rather "tatty" and in need of maintainance and updating. Because of the ongoing electric problems and indifference from the staff, we left the resort several days earlier than we had paid for, as we really wanted to enjoy this special area of Pemba which is a fabulous place to visit......... a costly inconvenience!

Overpriced for what it is, but good location
The staff are friendly, its in a good location to be a base for diving, visiting beaches etc.
Food was overpriced and not great. Walk to the Aiyana for food - its the same price but much better and with a nicer setting. The facilities are a bit run down, the pool area could be better maintained. The sea view suites don't really have a sea view. It's blocked by trees. Staying here during a quarter/half moon is fine because you can walk up the beach to other places (as tide is low). If you're here during full or new moon, the tide cuts you off from walking along the coast and so you are quite trapped.

We absolutely loved the calm and relax atmosphere at the Pemba Paradise. The room we had was spacious and clean and had a beautiful big balcony with sea view! The staff was always friendly and doing everything to make us feel welcome and at ease. Definitely recommendable, especially if you like quite places (because there is not much around).

Great location, beautiful interiors, rooms, breakfast, housekeeping and restaurant staff.
It was extremely difficult to book excursions with reception. Lady promised to check some info for us, and even when we came back after couple of hours, she wasnt prepared, like she didnt care. We had to book it via other sources outside the hotel.
