Upgraded to the Mereside... The Mereside is good!
I actually booked a stay at the Rosslyn hotel, but when I arrived I was told by the friendly and efficient receptionist that I had been upgraded to the Mereside, a sister establishment two doors away, so this is actually a review of the Merside! My HUGE room was at the top of the house - there is a lift available - and had a wonderful view of the bay. It was warm, clean, comfortable and well appointed. I like to write, so the escritoire (overlooking the bay!) was perfect. My booking didn't include a breakfast option and I didn't eat here so I can't comment on the quality of the restaurant but there is real ale at the bar. The hotel is about a twenty minute walk from the ferry terminal, but there is a bus stop for the city centre mere yards away on the promenade.
I was only there for three nights...

    Very enjoyable with few concerns.
Location: The hotel was close to the Town Centre and amenities. Staff: The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast: The food at Breakfast was very good. Licensed Bar: The hotel had a licensed bar open until 10:30.
Room sink: Plughole did not release water fast enough. Room Towel-Rail: These fluctuated in temperature with no way of adjusting temperature so room became too hot at times.

All of the staff were very friendly and keen to assist. Breakfast was good and was served at the sister hotel, next door but one, which also has a bar. The hotel is located just off the sea front, where there is a convenient bus stop for frequent buses to and from Douglas city centre, the Sea Terminal and the Airport. The same buses also serve Castletown and Port Erin.
Breakfast commences at 0800 but the Heysham ferry has a check in by 0820 so no breakfast possible at the hotel on departure day.

The view over the Irish Sea was good but walk upstairs was not
Just the breakfast is not severed in this hotel got to go to another few doors away to get breakfast plus every time you flushed the toilet made a loud noise for 2-3 minutes was not the best if you need the toilet and your partner asleep or you are

    Pleasant
It served a purpose.. and if needs must.
    Great location in the town.
Breakfast is in another hotel, which also accommodates 2 other hotels, so when you turn up for breakfast there was no room. When you do get a table its not cleaned and have to wait for tea/coffee. It is a help yourself which was poorly filled up - no beans, no tomatoes for example. 2nd morning even worse managed to get cornflakes and orange juice - no cutlery and wasnt asked if wanted tea or coffee. Our room was on a slant - 3rd floor - if you put anything in the bedside cabinet - the draws open on their own. We had a pump/fan running outside our room - not great when trying to sleep. Bed felt uncomfortable when you sat in it- but thankfully that was comfortable! Only one set of towels for 2 people, asked for more which were brought up later.

Nice appartement, friendly stuff, bus, tram and railway nearby. Near to town center and restaurants.
Too hot in the room.Only a small window for air condition. Spiderwebs in the corners. A little bit badly soudproofed.
