Very confortable room and clean bathroom with hot water. The location is a bit far away but immersed in the nature with stunning views. The staff are very happy and welcoming and we had a lot of fun with the activities they propose. Definitely recommend!!
The restaurant is only option for food and is a bit expensive

We stayed in the superior self contained room and it was very spacious with an amazing view. The staff help organise different trips and activities which is great for exploring the area and an affordable cost. Can book the activities through an online portal and pay with a credit card which was convenient.
The facilities aren't that well maintained, they definitely could do more in upkeep and cleaning of the common areas and overall property on a regular basis. Our room was missing the hammock on the balcony shown in the photos. Onsite restaurant was decent but limited options and closed between 2-6pm

    Bad
One of my worst hotel experiences
They organised excursions, which were charged extra.
They harassed me before coming to make the full payment using a separate link from booking.com, saying their system wasn't working. The roads to the hotel are terrible, my driver had to go off road and charged me extra. Its also not close to munnar or any attractions in the area, its in a remote location one hour drive away, so you'll find it difficult and expensive to move around. Once I arrived the room was filthy and literally smelled like armpits. I don't think the bedsheets or anything in the room was clean. I arrived at night so they wouldnt clean the room. I couldn't sleep, I had to try to sleep on towels. It was so bad I decided to leave but they wouldn't accept giving me a refund. The whole property is rundown, not at all like the pictures, and very understaffed. To get any kind of service you need to micromanage them, they're very incompetent, if friendly.

The property is at a very exotic location. Really good view all around. The dorms are really spacious and clean, with good washrooms . A very happening place.
Everything with the stay is fine but the staff here is running scam on different levels. Firstly, as there is no restros nearby the food here is insanely expensive as they know the guest have nowhere else to eat. Further the staff here have a contract with the cab drivers union. As the place is a bit isolated, they have fixed a rat for to and fro from munnar bus stop. Which is exactly double the rate if you get a cab urself. From hostel to munnar bus stop the correct value is 500 but when you book through hostel staff they will say 1000rs. Also if they see that the guest is leaving with his own cab, the union drivers literally threatens the non union driver and will not let the guests go and extort money. Stay safe.

    Lovely Stay. Amazing views
    Beautiful property. Amazing location
Google maps showed us a different approach road for the property which was horrible & scary. It was a very steep dirt track with rocks & stones in between for at least 2-3 km. Midway we wanted to turn and go back but we were almost there so we continued on anyhow. I would suggest calling the team and checking the road before going because there is another approach road which is the good one and the right one.

    Very good
Kolukumalai Bose Peak a must visit. Great place for solo travelers to meet like minded travelers.
Stay was good and comfortable. Kolukumalai view point was an attraction, but be sure you visit Bose peak, if it's just the Kolukumalai peak you are going don't make your expectations too high, unless you visit Bose peak which involves a bit of hiking but absolutely worth it. Eby was very friendly and accommodating and even took us to a local kallu shop some 10 Km away which had great Kappa (tapioca), fish curry, pork fry and fresh panangkallu (Palm wine) which was absolutely yummy.
The location is not the greatest as you have no other options for food nearby but are forced to depend on the Hostellers Kitchen. The bunk bed could have been a bit longer.

Wish I could have stayed longer!
Huge rooms with separate common room area - great for getting ready early morning without disturbing others for example - and a balacony with an amazing view! Hot water, purpose built bunks, comfy bedding, Offers great food and excursions. Nice common areas outside as welll. Pretty good wifi!
Beds are a little short? I'm 5'4" and I pretty much touched each end just by laying there, taller people might have issues? Also, pre-payment system is really confusing and stressful (as it doesn't work and threatens to cancel your booking) and it's really hard to get in touch with the hostel team unfortunately.

Staff is friendly and helpful. They have organised curated tours for travellers and these are very very good. The room I stayed in was clean and had a great view. Definitely recommend this place.
The cafe on the property is expensive and very limited in the options they offer. Most of the items are also not very good. Tip: please include more local food that is freshly made. Else travellers should arrange for their own alternative options

    Poor
It was not at all worth the money and definitely not recommend
The quality of the treks offered was commendable, and a few staff members demonstrated helpfulness during our stay.
I am writing to bring to your attention several distressing issues encountered during my recent stay at Hosteller Munnar. Our experience in the deluxe room (Room- 101) was disheartening due to various factors that significantly impacted our stay. Notably, the kettle provided in the room was not only dirty but also contained visible mold, necessitating replacements twice without resolution. Additionally, we observed spit marks on the walls, a clear indicator of neglect in the rooms cleanliness. Moreover, the curtains in the room were extremely dirty, and even after requesting a change, I was denied and informed that replacements were not possible. I was disheartened to hear that the blame was shifted onto the individual responsible for laundering them. This response was unexpected and unsatisfactory, as it failed to address the unhygienic conditions of the room. Furthermore, the condition of the common mens urinal, which was found overflowing with urine, was highly unhygienic and concerning for the well-being of guests. Another notable inconvenience was the unavailability of drinking water at the cafeteria between 2-6 pm, a period where hydration is essential. Upon requesting assistance, we were informed that water would only be accessible after 6 pm. This limitation was unexpected and inconvenient for guests seeking hydration during those hours. Moreover, I am deeply disturbed by the lack of staff concern regarding various issues raised. Shockingly, it was implied that consuming alcohol anywhere on the property was acceptable, indicating a disregard for maintaining a suitable environment for all guests. I am compelled to express that this review mirrors the sentiments shared by other travelers seeking a decent, hygienic place to stay.

Worst hostel experience, would not recommend
A Nightmare Experience at this Hostel I recently had the misfortune of staying at what can only be described as the worst hostel I've ever encountered. Located in the middle of nowhere, this place was a perfect storm of inconveniences and disappointments. The hostel's no-food policy until 6 pm left me hungry and frustrated. The rooms were shockingly dirty, and when I requested cleaning, the staff merely sprayed fragrance, leaving footmarks all over the furniture. The misleading pictures online painted a far rosier picture than the grim reality. Adding to the misery, we had anticipated a tranquil and social atmosphere, hoping for a relaxing experience and the chance to meet fellow travelers. Unfortunately, our expectations were shattered as the staff's incompetence turned what should have been a pleasant stay into a challenging and stressful ordeal. The pervasive bad smell made sleep impossible, and the unhelpful staff only added to the difficulties. Fellow visitors echoed my complaints, with many having a miserable time, creating a negative atmosphere throughout the hostel. The discontent among guests was palpable. Attempting to organize a sunrise trip was an exercise in frustration. Conflicting information, a 4 am cancellation, and a lack of communication left me dressed and ready to go at 4:30 am, only to be let down. To make matters worse, the hostel is apparently run by a group of clueless teenage boys, evident in their lack of competence and understanding of how to manage a hospitality establishment. The reliance on online payments for everything, coupled with poor signal reception, turned even simple tasks like ordering food or arranging day trips into a logistical nightmare. Adding the lack of assistance in bringing my bags to the room, particularly evident as I struggled in the rain, highlighted the staff's apparent disregard for guest well-being.
