The Lamplighter also hosts folk, jazz and blues nights on a Wednesday. Built from Lakeland Stone, the hotel features a relaxing guest lounge with ample seating. There is also a large car park, providing free private parking for guests. The building has maintained its original features, including grand fireplaces and large sash windows. The Lamplighter is just 2 minutes’ walk from Windermere Railway Station and coach stop. Situated just off the A591, which runs right through the Lake District, Orrest Head is 10 minutes’ walk away. The famous lake can be reached in just 20 minutes.

    Cozy stay with easy access to nearby attractions.
    The ambience of the property was perfect. The weather was not ideal because of the time of visit but the stay really made up for it. Everything from the fireplace to the music played in the lounge area was just perfect. Really gave us a totally experience.

    Short 2-night stay. Perfect location. Free on site parking. Would stay again.
    Great location. Interactive, nice and engaging staff. Great food (breakfast) - dinner looked good too. On site parking - but quite tight with full hotel.
    Room and hall decor wearing with time. Attention needed in places. But, still kept clean and tidy and Restaurant is beautifully kept and decorated.

    Staff and food were excellent. The rooms were clean, nicely decorated and well stocked with tea and coffee. The bed was in the main comfortable. The area was fairly quiet and accessible to Windermere Town and the train station. There was adequate parking
    The pillows were a bit uncomfortable. The bathroom was quite small and the room need some drawers or shelves.

    Very pleasant and enjoyable. The chefs do a fantastic job and the food is worth the money.
    Breakfast was a very pleasant experience. Dawn (I think that was her name) made me feel very welcome. Eggs Benedict was good but eggs were a little overdone. The staff member with the ponytail made sure that I could park as I have a van.
    One of the evening staff was a little too overbearing. Lighting could do with being a bit brighter in the bedroom. The Lino in the bathroom could do with being relaid.
