Disappointing

Was expecting something much better than the price indicates

Room was nice

The hotel is showing its age. Restaurant options for breakfast was poor especially when a restaurant and the tap room were unused. Poor restaurant planning. Bathroom towels were sub-standard and not enough. Only one bathrobe (sizes too small) No extractor fan in the bathroom. You are charging high dollar for mediocre food and service; thinking you're a top hotel - unfortunately you have a way to go and if you are not careful - your business will become untenable.

So lovely we want to return.

The food was oh so good! We ate at the Royce, the Terrace every morning, and the Tap room. We especially loved breakfast at the Terrace overlooking the pool. The food and selection were wonderful. The bacon and the oatmeal were always perfectly prepared. The grounds at the Langham were well manicured, serene, and lovely. We welcomed being able to sit, have a leisurely meal, and look out over the landscape. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The view from our guest room was beautiful and compelling. The spa may have been the very best Ive ever visited. No hard sell promotions, and the tip was built-in to the pricing.

The seating in the Tap room on the patio was a little worn and stained in spots. I also noticed more than a few maintenance or repair issues, for example a crooked lamp in an elevator waiting area, a broken elevator light, and faded upholstery by the pool. Langham elegance shines through, but it could do with just a little more attention to some minor details. My biggest complaint, and it is small in contrast with our overwhelmingly positive experience, is that there was no sundries shop. I hadnt packed for the cold snap and would have liked to have had a place to buy a sweatshirt, sweater or wrap. It would also have been nice to have had a place to buy a can of Coke, a roll of Tums, sunscreen, or a candy bar or even a little gift to take back to a friend. I love my friends, but I wasnt shelling out for Lalique or a diamond bracelet to take back to them.
