Exceptional

Lovely hotel, perfect location with super friendly staff

All of us loved our stay at the Royal Lion Hotel. All of the staff were so friendly and made us feel at home from the first minute we arrived until our departure. The location was amazing too, and there was a nice big car park. The added bonus was a terrific games room with a full-size snooker table!

Nothing really. I suppose if I was picky then the mattresses could be a little bit newer and firmer - at least the one I slept on.

Great location, comfortable room and helpful staff.

Everything was great except the service at breakfast was slow because it was just one person serving. The cooked breakfast was excellent for those having it but for those not, like me, the choice of fruit and bakery goods was rather less than I would have expected.

Very good

Great central location in a beautiful and charming seaside resort.

We had a superb vegan breakfast in a fascinating dining room and the whole hotel has a wonderful character and old world charm. All the staff we encountered were lovely and very helpful.

The historic aspect of the building with its sloping floors, leads to some interesting features e.g. a dressing table stool that can't be used at the dressing tables because it's up on a level plinth (due to the extreme slope) and to use the stool meant it coming off the plinth!
