Very good

Comfy and good food. Lovely bar area and plentiful parking.

Good food in restaurant. Very large breakfast if youre hungry. Friendly staff.

Unable to open windows in bedroom and it was too hot for us. Otherwise the room was very comfortable.

Could be a lovely inn, but let down by disorganised staff

Good location, and the rooms themselves were decent

Unfortunately what could have been a lovely Inn stay was let down by disorganised staff. Very friendly, just a scatty - which doesnt work when running an Inn. 1) On checking in, there was a lot of faffing by the staff member attempting to find a key. We were then eventually showed us to our room, that we pointed out had rumpled sheets on the bed and towels on the floor in the bathroom, yep it hadnt been cleaned (the man showing us to our room showed us inside but didnt even notice it had been inhabited). Probably a clue why they couldnt find the key, as it hadnt been cleaned yet if the last occupant had just checked out. 2) At breakfast we ordered, and then waited for an hour in the mean time 2 other couples had sat down, ordered, received and eaten their breakfast. We figured as one of the other couples had ordered the exact same food as us, ours was probably delivered to their table by mistake, but the excuse given by the server was they must have lost our ticket. Mistakes happen but we made eye contact 3 times with the server while we were waiting, yet she didnt clock that it was unusual to be sitting there with no food for an hour, hence we asked her directly in the end. And to cap it all, the Eggs Benedict my partner ordered was no longer available as the other guests had had the last muffins, pretty irritating

Had a really well cooked dinner in pleasant surroundings; great room and comfortable bed. Enjoyed the stay despite being on business & will definitely be back!

St George and dragon.

Been here a few times and it's a great base for exploring the area. The room was a great size but the bathroom way too small and the shower screen dangerously positioned because you walk into it.

Paid for breakfast and the food was shocking.We had an evening meal the first night and have decided if we stay again never to eat here.

Room facing main road but the secondary glazing and thick curtains helped to minimise the noise from cars passing.

Comfortable and convenient but the breakfast offering for vegans was poor and very late arriving.

The staff and friendliness of the hotel were lovely. They accommodated my father-in-law with mobility difficulties in an accessible room and they were very helpful.

We were all very disappointed with the breakfast on both mornings. On the second morning it took 50 minutes to arrive and on both days it was quite cold (it was a veggie cooked breakfast) Although I had noted in our booking that we would like 2 vegan breakfasts, there was little provision for this. No vegan spread for toast and, when asked if it could be provided on the second morning, it didn't appear. The breakfast was to include beetroot hash, vine tomatoes and artisan bloomer but this also didn't appear. At other hotels (we have stayed at many) we have been provided with suitable vegan substitutes but the staff seemed unprepared to offer them even when asked. We would very much like to stay again as we travel from Hastings in East Sussex to visit our daughter, son-in-law and new grandson often but the poor breakfast would cause us to hesitate. I hope this review will change that.

Exceptional

Perfect stay at a perfect hotel

We loved the location and character of the hotel. We were met by friendly and professional staff who made us feel totally welcome and even upgraded our room at no additional charge. The beds were firm and comfortable with a great shower in the en suite. We loved our stay and.only wish we had booked more nights. Make sure to visit Darts farm right next door and the quaint waterfront village of Topsham which is a short drive from the hotel.
