While the hotel lacked a lift, guests appreciated the pleasant staff, ideal location near Windermere, and dog-friendly atmosphere.

    The relaxed, chilled, beautiful building and location. Plenty of parking, staff very attentive. Drinks were reasonable priced not over priced like other hotels. Room was beautiful. Plenty of board games to entertain us.

    Room, shower - right pressure and heat, lounge area with nice fire place for informal dinning (though we had to wait quite a while for the food to be ready), breakfast

    Breakfast was well presented and cooked
    We waited 1 hour and 40 minutes after ordering for our bar food. This delay was unacceptable and at the very least we should have been offered some free drinks. My single room was very small and badly laid out. The plumbing needs to be updated.

    Relaxing, luxury stay.
    Brilliant welcome from Helen, fabulous room- a surprise upgrade. Beautiful surroundings. The drizzly Lake District weather didnt mar our stay- we would fully recommend the hotel and Id love to book again.

    The hotel is a superior place for making the most of the Lakes.
    The food was superlative. We had excellent breakfasts and dinners on both days, served by helpful and efficent dining room staff. Of course, the location on the edge of Windermere was ideal.
    The hotel evidently undergoes heavy use by people of all ages. As a result, it does not show that extra sparkle of a place that is looked after by the most diligent of staff. An example is the newel post on the stairs to our landing, more than slightly grubby. It was good to see families with little children in the hotel, though youngsters just learning to use their voices did get a little much at dinner.
