    IMHO does not deserve 5 stars
    Location.
    I guess we were unlucky? B6 townhouse has a log in front of the garage, and makes garage parking very complicated. All townhouses have heaters on balconies, but not B6, both balcony doors lockers were broken(had to call maintenance), hairs found in the bed and shower, kettle pot lid was loose.

    Desolation Hotel is THE reason to visit Lake Tahoe
    The location is great, the room is just stunning, the staff especially Ellen from front desk is great. She gave us the best recommendations of what to do in Lake Tahoe. We used the gym as well which was great!
    I wish the tv channels included ESPN so we could watch the college football games and not have to go to a restaurant to watch them as the playoffs were taking place . And also whatever happens try not to stay in room A31 as its next to the restroom used by the restaurant Maggies and it can be quite noisy

    Clean, great sauna and heated swimming pool, good restaurant

    The staff was amazing! The room was beautiful but for the price I wish I had a lake view
    The location is close to casinos and the lake but its not in a great neighborhood.
    My room was beautiful but my view out my balcony was an apartment building that had kids screaming outside until midnight. They have a tub on the balcony which would be fun to use if there was privacy. They have townhomes which might be quieter than the motel side.

    You will feel welcomed by a wonderful staff and love the comfort of the room and beds.
    The rooms are beautiful and very well equipped. Their restaurant is wonderful. Though the property is situated in an area where the only view is other buildings , there is a gorgeous beach a short walk away.
    Our view was a street with an apartment complex on the other side. We thought we would be staying in a wooded area, so disappointed with the view.

    We had a beautiful stay at Desolation hotel. The rooms were clean, well appointed and stocked with everything we needed. The modern, higher end feel of the room was comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed the unique fireplace and soaker sub on the balcony. The property was located within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We would return and highly recommend this property.
