It was only a one night stay, but the welcome drink in the room was most welcome! Good staff and perfect location for us.
Decor in the room was a little tired. When the room was last redecorated, the painters were not that careful when they painted around light switches.
There was also an annoying plumbing sound most of the night.

The location as well as the service. All the hotel staff were extremely good, friendly and helpful.
1. Breakfast must be a complement along with the charges. In all major countries, hotels provide breakfast as a complement. Not charging separately.
2. No toothbrush and toothpaste provided

Loved the staff, the location and the ambiance. Very cool bar and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Room was very nice size and the bathroom was great!

The Cocktail bar and people working in the bar
The hotel is very small and the staf is not up to the level and the price of the hotel.
We had problems with the heating which was very noisy and we had to stop it. The room (a King Sise De Luxe) had a regular noise in the early morning and for the whole day.
Breakfast was very expensive and not up to the level of a five star hotel.
Basically the impression I had is that people working has not been trained enough to run a five star hotel reception desk. The safe also went broken during our stay.
We saw every day people moving in the stairs matress to arrange rooms or clean. Sometimes at 1 PM the room has not yet been done!

History, location and staff excellent. Condition and amenities do not offer value at price point.
Door staff and breakfast staff were exceptional, as in 10/10 service really couldnt be improved. Location in St James is great and feels steeped in history.
Given the price charged (660 1 night) the hotel now feels shabby and unloved. The room opposite ours had left their breakfast tray, plates etc outside their door and there it stayed all morning and early afternoon. The lift was broken, we were on the 4th floor so meant plenty of stairs with Christmas shopping bags. Dukes bar closes very early so meant no residents night cap after West End show. In fairness, opening hours are on the website.

As always, a thoroughly enjoyable trip back to a more gracious era with a superb location in St. James Square
The air of understated buy very genteel hospitality is an outstanding feature of the Dukes. The bar is unrivaled for quality cocktails, especially the classic martinis often called the best in the world. The Drawing Room is a wonderful place to go for that third cup of coffee and to get some work done after breakfast. The afternoon teas there are among the best London has to offer, and the restaurant is also top flight. I have been coming to the Dukes for several decades now, and it never fails to please with each visit being yet another reassurance of the owners' continuing commitment to quality.
