AC not working properly. Emitting intermittent loud noises preventing sleep. Tried adjusting multiple times. Recorded this awful sound and in the morning had the housekeeper listen to confirm the problem. Switched off AC. Room then cold and foul smell like burning. Daughter woken around 3pm with what appeared like a cockroach on bed. Refused to get back into bed for the night. Rang reception twice and left a message requesting a new room. No response despite being told by the reception that there is someone there 24 hours a day. No sleep after 4am.
There were other problems. No soap in body wash dispenser in shower. Sheets did not look clean. We stayed in this hotel last year at the same time and decided to return but we were severely disappointed. We should not have to pay for this night. Very bad experience. Reported problems to the front desk at 7.45am. The maintenance person said the AC unit needed replacing.

Disappointing
OK, for resting after surgery, but nothing special
I had surgery at UVA and stayed here the day before surgery and the day after. The location was convenient to the hospital.
A few hours after we checked in someone opened our door and came into the room. It was immediately obvious to them that the hotel had double booked the room and they left. My wife approached the hotel staff to discuss this and they just shrugged it off. The hotel charges $30 for breakfast in their restaurant and the food is terrible. This hotel is way overpriced, I would not return.

It was pleasant. Pretty average looking outside but it was very nice inside, and so was my room. Staff was nice. Not sure how close it was to town. Starbucks and a seemingly popular pizza place next door.
No complaints other than maybe they should include breakfast in the price like every other comparable hotel.
