Mediocre due to the listed issues.
Grand hotel. The restaurant's were amazing. Location is unbeatable.
The lobby is getting very dated
The carpets in the common areas are getting very dated
The decoration in the rooms is getting very dated. Messy cables on desk, the rooms have not kept up.
Allowing some guest's security to be slouching in the already small lobby is just bad form. Guest's staff should be absolutely prohibited from squatting in the lobby. Lobby is for guests and family only. No guest private security staff, especially the extremely unprofessional sort allowed in lobby.

Good as usual, but with a slight twist.
We have stayed at Plaza Athenee quite a few times before. It has always been amazing. We are grateful that the hotel upgraded our room this time. We did notice the change of restaurant. We didn't manage to have any main meals at the hotel this time, but the afternoon tea was still as good and innovative as it had been.
It seemed that limousine service is now outsourced and a bit less up to standard. The lady chauffeur who picked us up at the airport was wearing very high heels (like 3-4 inches), which made us a bit uneasy, considering it can be dangerous driving in heels this high, especially with passengers in the car. Also, the chauffeur was coughing quite a bit without a mask, but told us we could either go for keeping the windows open or having air-con on, but not both... For hygienic purpose, we chose to keep the windows open, and it was 29 C outside. That was not very pleasant.
