Superb

A very comfortable stay in beautiful grounds

Friendly helpful staff. Accommodation was clean & comfortable - room (in the new block) was overlooking gardens (looked stunning after a v heavy frost). Good breakfast (self-service) served in the old manor house.

Nothing only things that could have been better was clearer signposting to the reception area from the grounds & wifi (poor signal from our room - possibly because of bad weather)

Loved the scenery the grounds where amazing. Nice for an early morning stroll enjoying the views. The bathroom was spotless.

The breakfast. the cereal, fruit, yoghurt berries, selection was nice. Some of the bacon was undercooked and most of the cooked selection was cold by the time you sat down.

Not really that we didn't like our accommodation but would rather stay in the very grand house as opposed to student halls of residence.

Two previous visits were a real pleasure, but I doubt we'll return after this experience.

The general location was ideal for our purpose

We arrived believing we had booked a room in the main house, as we had on previous occasions. So we were very disappointed to find we were booked into the athletes accommodation. There was a lot of noise, on our first night, late into the evening and early morning, due in part to the corridor door outside our room. Bedside light nearest the door didn't work. The WiFi is poor at best and hardly worth mentioning as part of the package. In the main house there was some contact with Staff, but in this block you are completely isolated, particularly during extreme weather. This was also an issue when you have to dress for wind and rain to get breakfast.

Awful staff, unaccomodating, stolen money.

I'm really disappointed in this hotel. After staying before it was a lovely experience and lovely accommodation. However on this day it was the complete opposite. I went to check in to be told I couldn't check in as her computer was telling her my payment had failed. How had it failed when the money has gone from my bank account? I had my screen to show her booking confirmed, payment sucessful. They were completely unhelpful and unaccomodating, not coming up with any solution or way to rectify the issue which was clearly their end. I was made to feel like an absolute idiot when she kept saying my payment had been declined as though she was implying I don't have the money to pay?! Of course I bloody do. She even told me things like that happens sometimes. Okay so that happens on a regular basis that you take someone's money and don't provide accommodation? Seems like a good way to steal from people. After going through the process with booking.com they contacted the hotel who have said that their policies say they can't give me the money back, even though the lady at the hotel said to go through booking.com to get the money back from them. So now the hotel has my money and is refusing to give it back. Absolute joke. Wouldn't bother staying at their hotel again, train your staff better and sort your computer systems out. Will be continuing on with my dispute until my money has returned.
