    Reviewers found Mantra The Observatory to be a nice hotel, but in need of updating. A 3-bedroom apartment was spacious but had wet, smelly towels on the floor. The massive lounge room did not have en (Read More)ough seating for 6 people, and the modern TV did not connect with phones. Rooms were uncomfortably hot overnight as the air conditioning only reached the lounge room and there were no fans available.

    While it was 3 days after Christmas - peak season - the cost was over the top for the room provided. We were offered a d

    Air con didnt work properly although we did get a fan. Crockery wasnt properly cleaned. Great location but for the price paid ($500) the room (king room with ocean view) was quite small with none of the little extras normally provided. The room was very tired. I have stayed at many Mantra hotels but this is not up to the normal standard. Overall we wont stay there again even tho we have been offered a 20% discount on our next stay.

    Great location and view - but needs an update.
    The location and view are amazing - right across the road from the beach.
    While the apartments are a good size they are old and in need of an update. Carpets and lounges are worn. My sister in law was staying in a 2 bedroom apartment and there was only a 2 seater lounge and outdoor setting for 2 people.

    Pleasant stay in an excellent location
    Excellent location & pleasant water view, easy walk into town.
    The wifi connection was fairly unstable & this was disappointing as we needed a good internet connection.

    The room was nice and clean. Bathroom cleaned well.
    It was so noisy at night (hoons going up and down the street). Had the doors closed. Could not sleep till early hours of the morning. Beds and Pillows were too soft for us. The lounge chairs need cleaning as they smelled awful. Some soft chairs would be nice out on the verandah as the other chairs were uncomfortable (too hard).

    Enjoyable stay
    We like being close to town. The pool and spa were nice to relax in as the weather was not the best. Good carpark. Very clean.
    Being on level one was supposed to be ocean view but only glimpses cos it is more level with the road which also makes it a little noisy. Also the blinds need replacing. Quite worn on the edges.

    Needs major updating of decor in room
    The location is fantastic views of local beach uninterrupted.
    The decor of room very dated. Room 605 -2 being a 2 bedroom apartment was dark and not appealing. The advertising for these rooms is false and shows a very stylish apartment not what we experienced! Now Reading the reviews after our stay I would have chosen another property and am very disappointed. Will not return.
