after booking on line being stuck on the motorway for 4 hours, turn up to check in to be told to provide id, dint have physical ID although had photo copies on phone plus bank cards. 2;am in the morning to be told I cannot stay!! one of my employees was staying in same hotel that evening and was not asked to present any ID for check in. Disgraceful attitude by the guy at the desk and was no assistance in trying to find alternative accommodation at that time, I will never use this chain of hotels again!

Disappointing

Dirty room. Some light fixtures not working. Disappointed.

Location. Size of the room. Facilities available.

I stayed in room 219. This was my second time at this hotel and I must admit I was very disappointed second time round. My first experience there was great. The room was modern, clean, fresh and crisp. But this last time I found the room to be dirty, with dust everywhere, lighting fixtures broken, the TVs connection to wifi was not functioning and the walls were dirty, tired and in a bit of decay. I took photos for proof and to show my observations should you wish to see them for your own reference. 1. Dust. It was obvious this room had not been cleaned in a really long time. My son (who was staying with me) is allergic to dust and it kicked off his asthma quite badly in the night. Luckily we had his emergency medication and pump for unexpected allergic reactions. The problem was that the dust was not only on surfaces but also piled up on the corners of the carpet and even stuck to the walls too, which Id never seen in a 4 star hotel before. 2. Light fixtures. The back lighting on the bed frame and the corner lamp in the room were not working. 3. Wifi on the TV Although the TV has an option to connect to Netflix, it was out of order. We asked the front desk and they said it hasnt worked for a while. I was expecting to use my own Netflix streaming account on the TV, but even that was not possible. 3. The walls They looked tired and in need of a refresh. Overall I think your hotel is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and the location is perfect. But given my last experience, I would have to think twice before booking there again, which is a shame, because it is the perfect place for when I travel to St Helens to visit family. My observations are merely constructive and I hope you will find them useful.

Disappointing

Great for a night but wouldnt stay any longer than that.

The staff were lovely and friendly, willing to go the extra mile and make you feel welcome. The locations brilliant and a really nice atmosphere.

The hotel feels very dated. Once past the lovely reception area, the rooms fall flat. When we entered there was minimal light in the room, marks all over the walls, shower boiling hot and unable to alter temperature, previous guests belongings left behind and the remains of previous guests toilet roll left behind. It wouldve felt better to have a better clean of the room. Maybe a lick of paint is needed. We were on the third floor, and there was a wedding party on NYE, so we didnt expect total silence but the party went on past 4am as it woke us up, alongside people walking up and down the corridors and shouting on their phones. Very paper thin! I probably wouldnt return based on this.

Quick stop over 3 rooms booked with family.

Staff were superb !! Friendly and very accommodating. Room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable, especially for someone with a very bad back. Good soundproofing from outside noise but not from people running up and down the corridors. Plenty of hangers and hanging space. Iron ( albeit THE most basic iron on the market ) ironing board and hairdryer included in the standard room. Plenty of plug sockets but no USB ports in standard room

Toilet floor in the main foyer was very grubby. No hand soap in the rooms bathroom. Minor moan-Tea, coffee & complimentary snacks were for 1 person when 2 were booked into the room. Minor moan- extra pillows were graciously given but came with what felt like paper pillow cases ???? Not the comfiest to sleep with. 2nd room we booked, there was a problem with a couple of the lights not working. 3rd room we booked, the shower leaked, flooding the floor, which my daughter cleaned up before we could bring it to the attention of the staff.
