Booking.com are misrepresenting the Niraamaya Wellness Retreats, Surya Samudra, Kovalam on its website. In particular:
1. The website states Niraamaya Retreats, Surya Samudra, Kovalam presents romantic seaside getaways in Trivandrum, with its private beach and beautiful sea-facing infinity pool. but the private beach was roped-off, inaccessible and full of rubbish and the photos used on the website failed to show the cranes and shipping vessels associated with the Port of Trivandrum.
2. The website promised 2 restaurants and a Bar and states Guests can head to Cafe Samsara, an all-day dining restaurant, to relish multi-cuisine delights. Gourmet seafood grills can be enjoyed at Essence, the specialty restaurant. they can also enjoy the beautiful sunsets at Madira Bar while sipping on sundowners but there was only one restaurant Essence, the specialty restaurant and Madira Bar was closed.
3. The website promised a Heated pool but the pool was not heated
4. I booked 2x Heritage Classic Double Rooms with Garden View but the cleanliness and quality of the furniture did not live up to the expectations set by the photos on the website.
5. Many of the hotel buildings were covered with tarpaulins indicating a general state of disrepair
So disappointed were we with the hotel and its facilities that we decided to check-out two days early (on the 23rd October 2023) and move to alternative accommodation further up the coast. I am aware of at least two other guests who had decided to do likewise. All of us were of the firm opinion that the Niraamaya Wellness Retreats, Kovalam did not warrant a 5* rating and was more like a 3* resort.
