We have stayed now at Norn Yaowarat Hotel on six occasions and keep returning every time we are in Bangkok. Why? It provides everything we need for a couple of nights stay and is in such a great location in the centre of Chinatown and only a 5 minute walk from a BTS station. The hotel provides good basic accommodation, always clean and rooms well maintained and the staff have always been polite, friendly and extremely helpful. We would be happy to return again on our next visit to Bangkok.

Only a basic coffee/tea and toast option for breakfast.

convenient location

Very steep steps, perhaps not suitable for people with physical limitations. But I was disappointed by the staff. After we checked out, we asked to use the toilet in the lobby. They asked me for 10bat and my girlfriend also paid 10bat. It's interesting that this order is from the hotel administration or in such a petty way the staff are trying to earn additional bonuses to their salaries. Chinatown is an interesting place for tourists to visit. However, it's worth looking for a more decent hotel.

A great basic accommodation choice in a fantastic location

This was the fifth time we've stayed here as it provides us with basic accommodation in a brilliant location in the centre of Bangkok's Chinatown area. It is also 5 mins walk from Wat Mangkon BTS station making it super convenient for getting to from the airport. The staff have always been friendly and very helpful on all of our stays.

The option of a more substantial breakfast than tea/coffee and toast would be nice

Disappointing

Bring your best earplugs to this noisy and smelly place

It was close to a metrostation and the bed was decent.

- incredibly noisy. Bangkok can be a chaotic place but this hotel is truely something else. The deluxe-rooms are all on the streetside right above the restaurants, (weirdly enough the dormrooms are more conveniently located). The isolation of the building is horrible, (big holes in the windowframe) so it sounds like your bed is in the middle of the street. In this part of town thats a big problem if youre looking to get some nights rest. - There is a traffic controller up the street that uses a loud whistle from morning till midnight, add it to the thundering traffic and the sounds of restaurants closing after midnight and opening early morning and youll have to be an excellent sleeper to doze off. - Weird fungal smells regularly rise up from the shower - One afternoon, workers climbed onto my balcony unannounced and because the curtains barely cover the windows they were looking right into my room. - the private bathrooom has a floor thats made of raw uneven concrete that doesnt drain, so youll sit on the toilet with your feet in a puddle This is one of those places you warn people to stay away from. There are far better options in this pricerange.
