    Unique property with wonderful staff and location. Amazing value given position right on river!
    Quietness was exceptional. Very attractive : unique being an old family home with 5 rooms . Home cooked meals served in pretty courtyard.
    High humidity made room feel damp. We had a room with stone floors and completely stone bathroom. Other rooms appear to have tiled floors and basins which I would prefer. Access is a little complicated needing a key or call to staff to open gates. Gates are very stiff to open and way down to ghat is littered and dog poo on steps. I hope staff might consider some cleaning of this. Charm and grace of staff more than made up for these comments which are intended as suggestions for improvements

    With so much potential sadly disappointed
    The location and the interior communal space
    I have never felt the need to write a review before It had so much potential. The interior communal space was beautiful. The rooms were rather dark, beds hard. But the appearance of the outside space is scrappy,on approach youre not quite sure if it a guest house or not. It doesnt have a secure welcoming feel. The biggest disappointment were there staff. After an initial warm welcome they didnt seem that interested in us. Breakfast was limited and doesnt start until 8.30. When we need to leave at 5.15 for morning sunrise we were promised they would be up to open the gates. We had to wake them up and were handed the key. They only accept cash which is sometimes difficult to get that much out of an ATM. An attitude change is needed.

    A genuine Indian experience with a touch of royalty with the warmest welcome
    The Staff. Especially Ranjit who was exceedingly helpful with a genuine unfakable attitude of welcome and desire to be of assistance with a never-ending joyful and real smile! He also drove us around where we needed to! All the others, from the guard to the little helping hands, were also wonderful and made us feel absolutely welcome and at home, immediately attending to all our needs. It is a pity that we could not meet the owner of the hotel, Her Highness Ruchi, whom I have read from other reviews to be a wonderful host, but the quality of the staff proves to be a perfect reflection of the owner's excellent and real sense of what making you feel at home is all about!

    rubbish outside the grounds of the hotel which is thrown by the residents of the neighbouring houses or gets washed by the rains. But the grounds of the hotel and the rooms are spotless

    A woderful and adventurous stay in Varanasi.
    This is a very cool place. It is a converted palace on one of the ghats. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. There is a wonderful courtyard area where the meals are served which is very conducive to meet the other guests. The place is quiet which is likely unusual for a hotel in Varanasi. The hotel property has a wonderful view of the Ganges The owner set me up with a guide named Prassan which turned out to be a wonderful thing. I spent three days exploring the city with him.
    For western travelers like myself keep in mind that this is not the Marriott. There is no tv (although they had great internet service), nor is there a 24 hour front desk.

    A great , ideally situated and quiet place to stay in Varanasi.
    Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. The location was perfect, it was quiet and there are lots of outdoor spaces to rest and relax. Our room was very comfortable and we had a big roof terrace with view of the Ganges.
    The boat trip was not that good, we could not get near the main ghat for Arti. We didnt know that credit cards are not accepted at the hotel so had to change money at last minute.

    This was a great location, just behind busy streets in a quiet safe secure area by the river Ganges. You had access to a lovely garden and the room was comfortable.

    Location is clearly perfect! Green and quiet! Between ghats and temples. Food was absolutely delicious with breakfast menu changed everyday. Dinners were excellent too (many restaurants in Varanasi will struggle to compete, even some famous ones). Lovely yard on which to relax and have breakfast, dinners.
    Providing drinks during the day (Coffee, tea, soft drinks) could be nice to enjoy and relax in the yard or even on the terrasse if shade could be provided.

    Superb location right on the Ganges Excellent food eaten in nice outdoor setting Friendly, helpful staff with good English Hotel organised 2 boat trips for us, very reasonable price Fabulous clean room, comfortable bed and plenty of hot water Owner is charming elegant lady, very nice speaking with her Highly recommended hotel
    The only reason I havent scored a 10 was that the hotel doesnt accept credit card as payment Therefore had to go to various ATM to withdraw cash Just be aware Not a big issue though
