    Romantic but dying historical building
    The location in the very centre of the town in front of the Kandy temple. The old historical building has its old charm. The manager was very helpful and trying his best to help us with all issues. Very atmospheric old elevator.
    Unfortunately seems like the building is dying and no owners dont love it enough to take care of it) there were no hot water, just scarcely warm. Half of bulbs in the room didnt work. In some parts of the hotel there are water leakages( the towels were very dirty and old. Bed sheets and curtains had spots on them.sanitary ware is Dirty and not fixed properly) anyway for one night stand this is an interesting experience. Dear owners, please save this beautiful building and hotel!;) work on maintenance and cleaning

    Fabulous stay in a still grand old lady
    Loved the style and history of the building, as well as the central location. Super comfy bed and quality linen. Loved the big bath, in room fridge and super pool. Paid extra for balcony, worth it. Nearly didn't stay because of all the negative reviews, but our experience was superb (should add we did not dine in though).
    This is an old hotel. Like any grand old lady,, she has bits and pieces in need of repair and which could work better but that it is to be expected. We had some flaking plaster on an internal wall, and slightly clunky plumbing. This is not a Holiday Inn built in recent vears,. Ideally, every wee fault should be fixed, but to me, with old buildings, this is kind of to be expected. No faults for me.

    Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Queens, Will visit again next time I am up in Kandy
    A very relaxing few days. Perfect central location for exploring Kandy. Hotel is full of history and old colonial charm with many original features. Very friendly, helpful staff.
    Restaurant food a little to "spicy" for my taste.

    We loved the old building and the location . It is centrally located with easy access to many places in the Kandy town. Staff are quite helpful. It has got a secure car park and driver accommodation.
    One of the rooms we occupied was damp and smelly. There was a special request made 3 days ago to provide a vegan cak or a bunch of flowers to celebrate a birthday. This was totally ignored by the staff member. This request was conveyed via email and via a phone conversation.

    Stepping back in time. It reminded me of the comedy Faulty Towers.
    The breakfast was good and so were the dining room staff.
    The fact that the lift did not work for one of our two days there was outrageous given I am disabled in one leg. When I spoke to the engineer of the group, he said it was heritage and couldn't be replaced. I suggest your hotel needs a lift that works 24/7 or install a second lift. I also suggest that reception staff have sufficient language skills to explain when the lift will be operational rather than just "it will be fixed"..Not good enough!. It is an OH&S issue and clients should be told they may have to climb three floors to their room.

    Great place with old world atmosphere!
    Great atmosphere! Lots of old world charme. Very friendly and helpful personnel. Spacious! We had a junior suit that is one big room of about 60m2! Good breakfast. Charming bathroom with bathtub and shower and plenty of Hot water! The Bar is also worth a visit. We would definitely stay here again! However, Many things in the hotel are a bit torn and rickety, we find that to be part of the charme, but you should consider it before you book.
    Lighting in the room could be better. No bedside reading lights.

    The general ambience of this old colonial hotel. All the staff with one exception were very helpful and cheerful. The rooms we had were clean and comfortable but on the 3rd floor only one small window.
    My arrival was met with a less than welcoming greeting at reception and it took ages to check in. The rooms are in need of some modernisation especially the bathrooms and electrical sockets. The pool is nice but sitting around it is spoilt by the smells from the kitchen. Also many thanks to the brainless idiots who fail to close the lift door properly on the ground floor. When you are stuck on the 3rd floor with a child in a wheelchair this is really annoying to say the least.
