Price was very near doubled even though room reserved 6 months advance due to special event downtown, concert. The room was not ready at 3pm check in time. I'm a Marriott Gold member, unable to use my phone as key with Marriott app, nor could I collect points for stay as I had booked on booking.com website instead of direct thru Marriott app. Lastly, even tho I'm a gold member, gave my membership # at desk was given a ground level floor room which was on the end near emergency exit. Hotel at capacity, due to special event, much noise all night as many guests used that emergency exit as thruofare to enter and exit hotel, even afterhours. The outside door which was on other side of room wall was heavy and operated with push bar latch, causing it to banging loudly when opening and shutting. The door banging and the guests talking could be heard opening and closing thru the night on the main level. The bar, the elevator, reception, and bkfst area not far away. When checking into hotel and having to wait on room to become ready, I asked front desk if bar in lobby had happy hour, she said she did not know or think so. She indicated the bar was open from 3 to 11pm and to ask bartender if there were any specials. It was after 3pm, room not teady despite it being offical check in time, no bartender or guests visible at "open bar." Not to mention, no offer of complimentary soda or drink while waiting on room after 3pm check in time (even for known gold loyalty member). Reception unable to add Marriott member number to stay when requested. Unable to honor late check out next morning and unable to provide clean room despite it being after 3pm check in time. Staff friendly and smiling, greeting guests. All this and paying almost twice normal nightly rate of room due to nearby local event. Disappointed in overall stay, especially at high price.
