Big island, a lot of activities for adults and kids. Big sport center. Very big kids club. Renovated rooms are nice and comfortable. Cleaning is perfect. Food is not extraordinary and can be always better but there is a good selection of various meals. Shark and stingray feeding every day. There is also manta which lives near Italian restaurant close to Reception - must see! There are some places where you can snorkels with variety of fishes, but certainly it is not comparable to Red Sea experience. Transfer is arranged well and smoothly
Hotel is quite old and some of facilities look outdated (starting from Reception). A la carte restaurants are all chargeable, even if you are with all inclusive package (only 1 free visit if you stay more than 6 days with all inclusive). Number of bicycles is very limited and their condition is poor. Limited selection of food for kids, no special kids corner. The territory close to villas is super dark in the evenings, very poor lighting

PRINCY from the spa was absolutly legend. Such a great massage!
MANDATORY christmas gala dinner for 260usd per person was horrible
never worth this money
prices from the dive base was wrongly communicated
as repeaters we should have received 10% discount, for AI customers there is also a 15% discount
but those are no cummulative AS MENTIONED IN THE BEGINNING, only 10% applied instead of 25%
we were repeaters on Sun Island but this was our last stay due to the christmas gala and the missing discounts for diving

From check-in to check-out, the whole process was smooth. The staff was courteous, and a lot of other important things were well taken care of. The food menu had variety of options for vegetarians too.
The only thing one needs to be careful about is dealing with reservation and transfer teams. The communication on many fronts wasn't clear.

Fantastische (en betaalbare) plek!
Our stay at Sun Island was amazing! We did stay 7 nights and did celebrate Christmas, fantastic! The Christmas dinner was unbelieveble soooo many things to eat and drink! And the staff was so proud.. and so are we! We did stay in a watervilla for 6 nights and 1 night in a deluxe pool villa (thanks for this amazing room). The watervilla is okay, not special. The deluxe pool villa (nr. 249) was fantastic!!!! The Sun Star restaurant is good and the staff here (especially Rachel, Alam, Navin and the man who cooked pasta/meat) are so lovely and helpful. Rachel, Alam and my fianc now did organize a romantic dinner at the beach for our engagement. It was so special! At the Christmas dinner did Alan got the best place for us with a nice view. Hes a fantastic waiter! The housekeeping is very good at the accommodations, and very lovely too. There are a lot of activities to do, for free or organized like swimming with mantas, whaleshark and turtles. It was amazing too. We saw them all! The island is very beautiful with a lot of nice beaches, restaurants/cafes and spots. The only draw back is that youve to pay for drinks when there are small activities (example: drinks after colour run). If you walk a few meters you can get the same drinks for free The people at the reception are also very helpful, in special Sana. She helped us with all our questions! We want to thank the whole staff of Sun Island, it was amazing!!

Paradise postcard-like island
This island is a paradise. So picturesque, with breathtaking views, as if you are staying in a postcard.
The staff and the service were exceptional. Special mentions to Rachel, Rakesh, Alam, Diana, and the chef Ali Rasheed at the restaurant; Ranjit and Ahmed from housekeeping; and Khaled, Visham and Adel at the Water Sports Centre.
We tried both the Spa and water sports, and highly recommend the experience. The Spa gives an unparalleled sense of serenity. The sea life is so rich that snorkelling here feels like youre in a documentary.
The buffet was good, especially the Indian and Asian dishes (eg noodles and biryani were fantastic). The Thai restaurant was amazing.

The buffet is one area where the resort can be even better, as while the food in the buffet featured a lot of variety on a given day, it can start to feel quite repetitive after a week or so. A lot of the dishes served at breakfast are more suitable for lunch. The desserts were often too sugary and can go up a notch in overall quality. We wouldnt recommend the Japanese restaurant.
It is worth mentioning that all additional activities in the resort are very highly priced (higher than London prices!) and did not seem to us to be competitive compared to similar islands outside the Maldives (eg Bali, Mauritius, Philippines)

I was here also three ago and now I have found a lot of things improved. All restaurants and bars open, much cleaner and neater from some points of view, part of the furniture at the bars and the sunbeds on the beach painted in bright colors, decorations in the reception area much better.
Unfortunately, although many improvements are being seen, there are still many things that are wrong. First of all it is about the food, which is far below the standards of a pretentious Resort. The staff should do something about this considering most of the tourists who come here are European and not many like Indian cuisine. A lot of work should be done here.
Although the staff are generally fantastic (special thanks to Nizam, Mamun and colleagues at the main beach, Sabita and Manik at the main restaurant and also to the Kenyan lady at the Water Villa area restaurant), they are still busy who don't behave as they should (those from Mekunu Bar, who don't come to serve you at the deckchairs or at the table, unless you insist)
Although many things have been renovated and improved, there is still old and dirty furniture (patio and room furniture).
Another negative aspect is related to the transfer from the Resort to Male. It is difficult to understand why when you have the flight from Male (towards home, at the end of the holiday) you are woken up at 02.15, you arrive at Male at 05.45 in the morning and after that you wait over 6 hours to board, in an airport that is one of the ugliest and most miserable airports in the world. Male airport is actually a shame, considering that tourists from all over the world come here, paying a lot of money.

Buggi service always available. Buffet one of the best in Maldives.
Service room outstanding.
Only few things for Kid buffet please add pizza,nuggets. Snack bar can be better from food and service .
