Superb

Location was perfect, staff hospitality was top notch including friendliness and efficiency, the breakfast was brilliant plus we received a free room upgrade!

Mattress was a little tired but the team accepted it and noted to replace it

Very highly recommended

Wonderful, friendly staff, fabulous breakfast with great service, very clean room, fluffy quality towels, warm and welcoming.

Bathroom could've have been a little cleaner, around the edges, and needed hoovering along edges of carpets. But it's minor detail, overall the room was well equipped and clean.

No lift, steep stairs, no sound proofing

The location

I was in room 27, top floor no lift. Perhaps this should be stated as particularly the last flight of stairs is extremely steep. Explained how bad my knee is but couldn't be helped. Therefore once in the room I stayed. Woken up about 11 pm by the noise of someone vomiting next door. Absolutely no sound proofing whatsoever. Could clearly hear people talking in normal voices next door, no privacy. On checking out the receptionist asked if I had been moved rooms as there was no record of me staying in the hotel. I would very much want to know why.

A little gem

It makes such a difference when you are greeted by friendly and helpful staff upon arrival and this was certainly the case here, very friendly staff! We had room 29 on the 2nd floor which was spacious with a big comfortable bed, two easy chairs which were much appreciated (this isn't always the case, even in 4* hotels, often there is just one), tea/coffee making facilities and biscuits. The room and bathroom were very clean and there were big fluffy white towels. It was quiet. Guests can also use the small but really lovely outdoor heated pool which I very much enjoyed. We had vegan breakfasts including vegan sausages (you have to ask for those), there was a good fruit salad too and a selection of cereals with a choice of soya or oat milk. The only pastries we noticed there were croissants but we didn't ask if they were vegan or whether they had vegan pastries. Parking was ok but if you park at the top to begin with and then go out for the evening you may have to park at the lower car park on your return so I suggest you have a look there first in daylight to check which spaces are reserved for the cottages and which are for hotel guests as it is a little difficult to work out at night. The hotel restaurant was closed when we were there but the receptionists are happy to suggest restaurants or even help with ordering takeaways. There is a bar. The beach is easy to reach on foot either by road or a shortcut through the grounds of the hotel.

Just a little niggle regarding safety. The bottom corner on the window side of the wooden bedframe sticks out a bit and the space between that and the corner of the dressing table is quite small and therefore it's easy to bump into it and trip. My husband did hurt his leg doing this. The dressing table could quite easily be placed along the wall opposite the bed and the tv put on a small separate base/table placed a bit further away from the corner of the bed and so allowing more space to get through.
