I would highly recommend Tamarind Village to anyone wanting to stay in Chiang Mai.

Breakfast and location excellent. Christmas Eve gala dinner was exceptional, in a beautiful setting.

The hotel has a very pleasant environment with ancient and ethnically distinctive architecture, a comfortable large lawn, and a lush tamarind tree, creating a tranquil and delightful atmosphere. The location is also excellent, right within the ancient city.

However, due to the antiquity of the buildings, the facilities appear somewhat outdated: on the first day of stay, there was a toilet blockage issue that required maintenance, and a tip was given for the service. Numerous small insects were found on the bathroom sink, which was somewhat terrifying. The other staff members provided good service, but during interactions with the front desk lady, she seemed somewhat unhappy. The pool water quality is average, and there was skin sensitivity after swimming. The breakfast was also mediocre, not as good as the two other hotels I stayed at previously.

Tranquil oasis in centre of town

An oasis of peace right in the centre of town, superb.

Everything was amazing. The rooms were immaculate, the pool area was an oasis of calm, breakfast was amazing with a fantastic choice of cuisine and the staff were outstanding and couldn't do enough to keep you happy. If you're travelling in Chiang Mai I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Fantastic oasis in the middle of Chiang Mai

This hotel was like a small oasis in Chiang Mai, set back from the road up a beautiful bamboo lined drive way, it was super quiet, very green and everything we wanted after being in Bangkok. The pool was fantastic and next to the bar / restaurant. Excellent breakfast and the room was awesome with a little balcony that overlooked part of the gardens. Great location from town, you can literally walk everywhere within the old town itself and probably further if you wished. I would certainly return and probably try for longer, we only did 2 nights and felt we didn't enjoy it as much as we could. They organised a transfer for us which was perfect, met by a lovely lady who drove us the short distance.

Nothing really jumps out, if I was being picky, there was no AC in the bathroom, only in the main bedroom area but this is a high level eco location. Also, the bar is a little more expensive - again this is a minor point and didn't stop us. A large beer was 230 baht (clearly I'm getting tight in my old age)

amazing hotel, fantastic restaurant and food

Beautiful grounds, lots of charm. Amazing restaurant with great Thai food. Breakfast was also brilliant. Lovely staff

some of the property was a bit tired, our room had no windows and was blocked by curtains. the balcony was a walk way with a seat. shower needs updating and toilet keep blocking. pool was also cloudy and didnt feel clean, they need a pool boy/girl as there were lots of thirsty clients in the heat that would happily drink all day if asked.

Loved the old, slightly colonial style, right in the middle of old Chiang Mai. Excellent service throughout our stay,

Hotel style (feels like a big colonial house), rooms are stylish and authentic (although not huge). Really clean throughout, and lots of nice touches. Truly excellent staff, nothing was too much trouble.

Only slight thing is that I didnt find the bed very comfortable.
