Reviewers Mention About The Idle Rocks

The Idle Rocks received well-deserved 5-star ratings for its exceptional rooms, staff, and food at the supper club. The atmosphere and ambiance were just right, with a heartwarming focus on young peo (Read More)ple's skills. One guest praised the Catch of the Day dish made with turbot on a bed of purple cauliflower and butter beans, assuming the local sourcing added to its appeal. Fabulous team efforts were noted throughout.

Staff very good, food very good, room very good.
Breakfast was very good. Staff very good location good. But not any other facilities in the hotel. No car parking next to the hotel if raining not easy to load and unload. St.Maws is great if you were on holiday in the summer and not a local.

A lovely hotel in a stunning location
Amazing setting and beautiful interior & layout
Our room was very small which was fine as it was cute and least expensive option. We could have done with fresh milk being delivered to the room in the morning as our room phone didnt work so had to go down in dressing gowns to get it! Could do with more plug sockets in the room as we had to unplug the room phone. Staff very helpful though.

    Very good
Quaint and charming English seaside resort.
The location was great and the decor chic. Comfy beds. We had two rooms, and if we did not have our daughters room to compare, wed be more impressed. The bathroom was huge and lovely. Fine dining at the restaurant for dinner was exceptional. Staff were mostly very nice and friendly. Loved the sitting room which was cosy and inviting. Having drinks on the terrace was fun. Car charging spaces were a nice touch.
Simply - the rooms were of very different quality. I know it is a boutique hotel but certain basic amenities should be the same throughout. For example - they did not have a fridge - although they are both over 18. Was it meant to be a kids room? But, they had lots of storage space. Our room was big, but there was zero drawer space and very odd hanging space (partly cannibalised by (lol) the fridge and tea set inside the closet. The decor was charming, but impractical. For a weekend its ok but we were there for a week and clothing storage becomes important. Also - the restaurant, while nice, would be great for a weekend but boring after 2 days. They had nothing but the same expensive prixe fixe menu every day. Even the breakfast got dull after a while - no variety on the buffet. One day we had the avocado toast which I swear was supermarket guacamole. Mostly it was good - but more thought put into it. We asked for beach towels one day - these were supposed to be in the room - were told that there were not any available, although it was the morning. I sort of insisted and they made it happen, but this is a seaside resort. Towels should not be in short supply in August. Please offer more variety of food in the restaurant.

Beautiful interiors, great location, stunning views from a spacious room, friendly staff. Lots of consideration of guests - beach towels available, sun hats to use on the terrace
Slow service for hot breakfast, coffee in restaurant could be improved
