Our booked room wasn't quite ready at check in time, we had been in earlier to leave our bags, the choice was wait another 20mins for our booked room or move to a different same level of room, I wish we'd waited, but we went to our new room, 136 I believe, it was end of the building, external wall room.
The room was freezing and even after an hour of full blast heating. We got into bed to stay warm, it was similar to the outside temperature when we first walked in.
Maintenance checked and the heating was coming out at the correct temperature but just not heating the room before cooling. A couple of portable heaters were provided and an hour or so later it had warmed up. Portable heaters left on for the entire stay kept the room bearable. It was the start of December so cold weather was expected outside but pre heating the room or having additional heating before check in would be advisable for winter months.
Just didn't get to enjoy the room before going out for dinner because it was so cold. Staff were very helpful and offered us another room but didn't want to risk starting again in a new possibly as cold room as the temperature was slowly starting to rise in our original room.
Beautiful bedroom area but temperature tarnished the stay and the night away had been a birthday present for my wife, this is reflected in overall score.
The bathroom was a little dated, the shower never got overly hot and was lukewarm in the evening and the next morning, I don't think this was because we were freezing? The shower screen leaked a lot and a couple of towels had to be used to mop it up and stem the flow. This was relayed to the reception team.
For the cost of the room for a night I am disappointed. During summer months I'm sure it would have been great and had no issues but I can't believe this is the first time this issue has come up.
