Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Auckland

Arrive in Auckland and pick up your self-drive car at the airport
Drive to your hotel and check-in.
In the evening, explore the Viaduct Harbour area and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2 Auckland to Paihia

After breakfast, drive or take a bus to Paihia in the Bay of Islands (about 3 hours).
After lunch, visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and learn about New Zealand's history.
Head back to the hotel after and relax at your hotel in Paihia.

Day 3 Explore Paihia

After breakfast, head to the pier for a dolphin-watching cruise in the Bay of Islands.
After lunch, visit the historic Russell Village or relax on the beach.
Head back to the hotel and enjoy dinner at a waterfront restaurant in Paihia.

Day 4 Paihia to Rotorua

Drive from Paihia to Rotorua in the morning (about 4 hours)

Day 5 Explore Rotorua

In the afternoon, explore the Redwoods Treewalk or go ziplining at Rotorua Canopy Tours
End the day with relaxation at your hotel or a visit to the Polynesian Spa.

Day 6 Rotorua to Queenstown

Fly from Rotorua to Queenstown in the morning (about 3 hours)
Check into your hotel in Queenstown in the afternoon
Explore the town before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant in the evening.

Day 7 Explore Queenstown

Go bungee jumping at the Kawarau Bridge in the morning.
Grab brunch and take a jet boat ride on the Shotover River
Head back to the hotel and have a local dinner in the town

Day 8 Queenstown Day 2

Have an early breakfast and take a day trip to Milford Sound, including a cruise on the fjord
Have lunch on the boat
Head back to Queenstown in the evening and explore Queenstown's nightlife and dining scene.

Day 9 Queenstown to Franz Josef

Check out from your hotel and drive from Queenstown to Franz Josef in the morning (about 5 hours)

Day 10 Franz Josef to Christchurch
