Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 COLOMBO ARRIVAL - MT. LAVINIA
  • Arrival at Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport.
  • Transfer to your hotel in the Mount Lavinia area, a beach resort vacation spot near bustling Colombo city.
  • Rest of the day at leisure.
  • Overnight at your hotel in Lavinia.
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Transfer to Mount Lavinia railway station to catch a train to Jaffna.
  • On arrival at Jaffna station, transfer to your hotel.
  • Later in the evening, visit Casuarina Beach and Fort Hammenhiel, that the Dutch built in the 16th century.
  • Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Jaffna offers many sightseeing options on the island's northernmost peninsula.
  • Visit Jaffna Fort - the second largest in Sri Lanka, built by the Dutch in 1619.
  • Another highlight is the Nallur Hindu Temple and the Nagadeepa Buddhist Temple (reached by boat), which marks the site where Buddha came during his second visit to Sri Lanka.
  • Return to your hotel for your second night's stay in Jaffna.
  • After breakfast, travel by road to the ancient capital city of Anuradhapura.
  • On arrival, transfer to your hotel.
  • Later in the afternoon, go for a Jeep safari in Wilpattu National Park.
  • The park comes from the natural lake that forms here after the monsoon season.
  • Spot some wildlife, including elephants and, if you are lucky, even a leopard.
  • Return to your hotel and overnight at your hotel in Anuradhapura.
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Today tour Anuradhapura - home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
  • Afternoon sightseeing tour to visit historical and archaeological sites, including the sacred bo-tree (amongst the oldest documented trees in the world), the 1600 columns of Brazen Palace, and Ruwanwelisaya - the most famous dagobas (Buddhist stupa) in Sri Lanka.
  • After the tour, head to Trincomalee, located on the East Coast of Sri Lanka.
  • On arrival, check in at the hotel and rest of the day at leisure.
  • Overnight at your hotel in Trincomalee.
  • Day free at leisure or explore Trincomalee.
  • Take an optional tour to the Koneswaram - a sacred Hindu temple, the Portuguese-built Fort Frederick, and the seven hot springs at Kanniya.
  • Overnight at your hotel in Trincomalee
  • After breakfast, transfer to Nuwara Eliya.
  • As you approach Nuwara Eliya, you pass through mountains, valleys, waterfalls and tea plantations.
  • On arrival, tour a tea plantation and a tea factory.

  • After breakfast, excursion to Horton Plains - Sri Lanka's highest plateau, 7200 feet (2200 metres) above sea level in the central mountain country.
  • Trek to Worlds End, where the plateau plunges a thousand feet.
  • Also, see the mesmerizing Baker's Falls.
  • Later return to your hotel and stay overnight at your hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
  • Breakfast at the hotel, then head for the capital Colombo.
  • On arrival, check-in at the hotel.
  • Evening free at leisure to experience Colombo's sights and sounds.

It is really memorable tour with Travel fun unlimited. Tour was well guided, with a nice comfortable vehicle and a cooperative driver. However, hotels given at some locations were not up to the mark. (Read More)Overall we enjoyed the tour package guided by Travel Fun Unlimited and looking ahead for future tours.

We had a great during the trip. Planning and itinerary was perfect. There were a few mishaps like a cancelled train trip which is out of the control of Indian Travel Waves but Venay handled it very (Read More)well and we were put on a flight very quickly that we did not miss a beat. On the whole it was a great trip. The two drivers that was provided for the trip were both excellent and went above and beyond what was expected. I would recommend Indian Travel Waves and especially Venay our travel agent to whoever is planning this kind of trip.
