The Concept Behind the Fashion Show
The fashion show was mainly a part of the Visit Nepal 2020 Campaign arranged by the Nepal Tourism Board. The event was also organised to spread awareness about problems related to pollution and climate change. The other aim was also to portray Nepal as a great tourist destination. Great care was taken to see that the whole event was organised in an eco-friendly and sustainable way.
How Was the Event Managed?
It has been reported that just before the event, on January 18, 2020, a group of 48 people trekked from Lukla to Kalapathar. On their way, they used bio-degradable clothes, shampoo and detergent along with solar energy which helped them to cause less pollution. The whole event was also taped as a reality show that will be aired on television in April or May 2020.Who Attended the Show?
Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Nandini Lahe Thapa, senior director of Nepal Tourism Board were the Cheif Guests for this event. Along with the models from Nepal, there were other models from Sri Lanka, Singapore, Italy and Finland. Pilot Lt. Col Pratap Bohara was the Technical Witness of the show on behalf of Guinness World Records.
What Did the Models Wear?
As a safe and clean environment was the central theme, the clothes used were eco-friendly and natural. They were a product line from KASA, a Nepali Clothing Brand and the materials used included Nepali Pashmina, Yak Wool and Felt.Do you think such eccentric fashion shows should be held more often and would you like to attend one?
