After working for odd hours day in and day out, don’t we all deserve a break sometimes? This is precisely why going off for weekenders, concerts and festivals is a good idea. It gives you a chance to unwind, meet new people, forget all about your worries and have a splendid time in general.
But there is perhaps nothing greater or bigger than the popular Festa De Diu! Never heard of it? Well, this is actually Asia’s longest beach festival and was held from December 2015 to February 2016! Can you imagine such a long beach festival? It would be so much fun, right? Relaxing by the beach, attending concerts and workshops. It sounds like the ideal life!
Well, if you want to prepare yourself for Festa De Diu’s next installment, we have all the details. Scroll on to know more about this wonderful festival.
Festa De Diu is held (of course), in the union territory of Diu. It was started off as a publicity campaign of sorts, since Diu had to be promoted as a tourist spot. Basically, this beach festival welcomes one and all with open arms and has tons of fun events planned out for the tourists. The event itself is divided into 4 zones – Beach, Cave, the Diu Fort and the Amphitheater. There are lots of performances by artists, held every weekend.
Apart from that, here’s a list of what you can expect at the Festa De Diu:
- Spas
- Bungee Jumping
- Hot Air Balloon ride over the Arabian
- Zip Lining
- Workshops
- Fashion shows
- The Carnival
- Music & Dance sessions
- 5-star hotels
- Luxurious tents on the beach
In fact, the organisers plan out the festival schedules by the week. Each week includes a separate theme. So, you can attend their Wellness Week, the Arts Week, the Dance Week or even their Laughter Week! There will be a host of activities planned out around that and it sure sounds like great fun.
While you’re at the festival, you can also go ahead and visit the Diu Fort. It’s quite impressive and a real treat for history and art lovers. The Naida Caves and the Church of St.Francis Assisi are also great tourist attractions there. However, the best part about this festival is undoubtedly, the beaches — pristine sand, gentle waves and an open sky. You can head to the beach after a concert, with the music still ringing in your ears and unwind by the beach, perhaps inside your luxury tent! What more would anybody need?
If you plan on going for the festival next time, it’s quite easy to get there. The closest railway junction is Veraval. It’s situated about 90 km from Diu. You can also opt for Delwara station instead of Veraval. However, if you want to travel by flight, Diu also has an airport, located at Nagoa. You can even get here by availing of the state buses or, private buses.
So, if you’re looking for some pure unadulterated fun right at the beach, Festa De Diu is your answer!
