1. Everest (2015)
Plot -Inspired by the numerous attempts to climb the Everest, this movie captures the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain. Two different expeditions are challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. With the harshest elements found on the planet testing their mettle and grit, the climbers face nearly impossible obstacles in a struggle to survive to narrate the journey of a lifetime.
2. Himalaya (1999)
Plot – A dramatic tale about rivalry in the perilous trek across the Himalayas, an elderly clan chief and a young villager battle for control of the caravan. In a village in the North-Western Himalayas, an old chieftain’s, eldest son has just died, refuses to allow the young villager to lead the yak caravan. They both end up leading on two different routes.
3. Seven Years in Tibet (1997)
Plot – An autobiographical film based on a book of the same name, Seven Years in Tibet follows Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer on his experiences in Tibet between 1944 and 1951 during World War II. It is set in areas of present day Pakistan and Uttarakhand. It captures Harrer’s journey as he befriends the Dalai Lama during China’s takeover of Tibet.

6. The Summit (2013)
Plot - A savage mountain to climb, K2 is an extension of the northwestern Himalayan Mountain range, in the remote region between Pakistan and China. With a fatality rate of one in four climbers, it has rightfully earned the title of the second most murderous mountain. But with any high risk sport comes the love of the challenge. In August 2008, 22 climbers from several international expeditions converged on High Camp of K2, the last stop before the summit. Forty-eight hours later, 11 had been killed or simply vanished into thin air. Like a horror movie coming to life, the mountain began stealing lives – one brave heart at a time.

Plot – This film marks the 100-year anniversary of the Duke of Abruzzi’s historic and landmark K2 expedition in 1909. Adventurous, perilous and even serene, it offers breathtaking shots of the world’s hardest peak to climb.

Plot - A docudrama about Sir Edmund Hillary, the film explores his ascend as the first man ever to ascend the daunting Himalayan peak of Mount Everest. There is also audio from interviews with Hillary and recorded narration by expedition leader John Hunt along with footage and photos of the original expedition.
9. High Ground (2012)
Plot – Returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, 11 veterans join an expedition to climb the 20,000 foot Himalayan giant Mount Lobuche. With blind adventurer Erik Weihenmayer and a team of Everest summiters as their guides, they set out on an emotional and gripping journey to reach the top, attempting to heal the emotional and physical scars of the longest war in U.S. history.
10. Vertical Limit (2000)
Plot – A survival thriller, Vertical Limit explores the tale of young climber Peter Garrett, who must launch a treacherous and extraordinary rescue effort up K2, the world’s second highest peak. Confronting his own limitations and the unfathomable power of nature’s uncontrollable elements, Peter risks his life to save his sister, Annie, and her summit team in a race against time.
