The much-awaited National Skiing Contest will be held in the popular ski-resort of Auli in Uttarakhand was cancelle for the year 2023. The dates for 2024 are yet not out.
Satpal Maharaj, the Uttarakhand Tourism Minister hopes that the National level skiing event has made Auli a hotspot for winter sports. He also added that the conditions are favourable in Uttarakhand and such events will not only promote tourism in the state but also provide employment opportunities to the locals.
The Secretary of Tourism said that the skiing contest taking place in Auli will be hosted by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council (UTDC), in collaboration with the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam. The competition has also received approval from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and it is trying the best to make the event a hit among the audience. He also stressed the fact that the tourism department will aim at introducing the adventure-seekers and appeal the locals to cooperate for the same.
In order to promote winter sports in the region, the tourism department has also introduced artificial snow-making machines a couple of months ago. These machines are being operated at night when the temperature falls below zero degrees. In addition, the snowfall in Uttarakhand has played a major role in favour of the National Skiing Contest.
