Yilankale, also known as the Castle of the Snakes or Snake Castle, was built in the late 12th- 13th century in Adana. Overlooking the Seyhan river and situated on top of a rocky hill, the castle is known to be the home of a mythical creature, half woman and half snake. People often come here to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Cukurova and the Seyhan river.
It is the most preserved Armenian castle in the Cukurova region, which was built for security and communication with three other castles, namely the Anavraza, Tumlu, and Kozan. The Snake Castle was renovated in 2014 and is now open to the general public for tours. There are many eateries present at the foot of the castle. Also, the castle is near the Adana Center.
