Plantin-Moretus Museum, Antwerp Overview

Plantin-Moretus Museum is a part of a museum complex, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing Renaissance and Baroque architecture. It's renowned for housing the world's oldest surviving printing presses and an extensive collection of typographical materials. Apart from offering a glimpse into the early days of printing and publishing, it also boasts the original printing presses, a vast library, and the family's living quarters along with courtyard gardens.

It was once the home and printing workshop of the influential 16th-century printers Christophe Plantin and his son-in-law, Jan Moretus. The interior includes richly decorated rooms and a tranquil courtyard garden, offering insight into the life and work of one of history's most significant printing families. The museum houses over 30,000 old books, including a 36-line Gutenberg Bible, one of the earliest major books printed using movable type. The collection includes paintings and drawings by Peter Paul Rubens, adding an artistic dimension to the historical exhibits.
